Casio Computer Co., Ltd. ( http://world.casio.com/ ), announced on August 9 that five of its lamp-free projectors, including the XJ-F210WN, have been authorized as "TCO Certified," effective July 13, 2016. TCO Certified is an international third-party sustainability certification for IT products administered by TCO Development ( http://tcodevelopment.com/ ), a nonprofit organization based in Sweden. The five projectors meet the latest TCO Certified Projectors 2.0 criteria.

TCO Certified products meet life cycle criteria for the environment, health and safety, ergonomics and socially responsible manufacturing. In order to be TCO Certified, products must undergo rigorous verification of multiple factors in all phases of the product life cycle, including socially responsible manufacturing during the manufacturing phase; safety, product lifetime, and energy efficiency during use; and elimination or reduction of hazardous substances and responsible end-of-life handling.

TCO Certified Projectors 2.0 criteria also require that products meet criteria for high-quality display images and be equipped with an Eco Mode that consumes less energy and reduces the acoustic noise level. Additionally, the projector and all assemblies and sub-assemblies of the product must not contain mercury or other hazardous substances, and the total amount of mercury used in the lamp must be declared.

Since 2010, Casio has been using laser and LED light sources in all of its projector models (http://www.casio-intl.com/asia-mea/en/projector/ ), eliminating any use of lamps that contain mercury. These five Casio models, newly released in 2016, are the first lamp-free projectors to be TCO Certified.

According to Futuresource Consulting Ltd., Casio holds a global market share of 73% (*) for solid state illumination (SSI) light source projectors with 2,500 lumens or more, which is bright enough to use in a fully lit room.

Casio Computer Co., Ltd., on July 16 announced the Chordana Composer Version 2.0, an iPhone app that enables users to automatically compose a musical piece from a short melody when inspiration hits. The app is available now at the iTunes App Store from July 16. Please check the price at the App Store.Users already in possession of Chordana Composer will receive the update free of charge.

Chordana Composer Version 2.0 now gives users the ability to upload their original musical compositions to YouTube. The number of composing genres has increased from five to nine, and there is a new sol-fa (do, re, me) input mode for those not versed in using a music keyboard. The expanded range of features also includes the ability to convert an original piece to a ringtone (*1) or MIDI data, and then send it by email, as well as enhanced integration with Casio electronic keyboards.

- Even beginners can compose and share original music

Enter an original melody from one to eight measures in length by either whistling or singing the melody, or using sol-fa input. Choose from one of nine available genres and three types of impressions. The app does the rest by automatically composing an original musical piece, complete with intro and ending. The original piece can then be uploaded to YouTube, complete with video notation. Users can also create a ringtone from their original pieces.

- Expanded features for skilled composers

In addition to the above-mentioned methods, a melody from one to eight measures in length can be entered by either tapping the on-screen keyboard or positioning notes on the on-screen staff. In Version 2.0, users can select obbligato passages and convert the original song to MIDI data.

- Enhanced integration with Key Lighting keyboards

Integration with Casio's key lighting keyboards has been enhanced. In addition to lighting up the right-hand melody part, Version 2.0 now lights up the left-hand chord progression on a connected keyboard.

Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced on January 30 the release of Chordana Composer, an iPhone app that automatically composes a musical piece based on a two-bar melody created by the user. The app is available at the Apple App Store from January 30.

Chordana Composer is an app that allows anyone to easily create their very own original music - even if they do not know how to compose music or play an instrument. The user simply records himself or herself singing or whistling a tune for two musical bars, and the app automatically composes an entire piece of music based on that melody. The finished music not only can be played back for the user's enjoyment, but it can also be emailed as an audio file to friends.

- Music can be composed even without the ability to write music or play an instrument

To use Chordana Composer, the user simply thinks of a two-bar melody and records it on his or her iPhone, either by singing or whistling the motif. Then the user selects from the app's five different music genres and three types of melodic settings, and finally presses the Auto Compose button to create an original piece of music complete with an intro and ending.

- Equipped with functions for making the most of musical skills

Users can also input the motif by playing the app's keyboard interface or by entering notes in a score on the notation input interface. Moreover, melodies in the finished piece of music can be edited in the score.

- Connectivity with Casio's Light-up Keyboards

Chordana Composer can be connected to MIDI-compatible electronic musical instruments. If it is connected to one of Casio's electronic keyboards with light-up keys, the melodies in the pieces created by Chordana Composer will light up with the music.

Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced on August 5 that it has released a new version of Chordana Viewer, an iOS app that displays the chord progressions of songs to help users create chord charts. Chordana Viewer Version 2.0 also allows users to edit, print and exchange chord charts via email, This new version is available at the Apple App Store effective August 5.

In addition, Chordana Viewer 2.0 lets users adjust the barline position in the musical measure when detection should take place, so that the app can accommodate more diverse music.

Creates chord charts for the user's favorite songs

The new version can automatically detect musical chord progressions in audio files and then display them on the screen as a chord chart. Moreover, if the user wishes to change the musical key, the chords change accordingly. The watch is equipped with a high-performance GPS LSI manufactured by Sony Corporation in collaboration with ---Casio to customize wristwatches. This enables the watch to achieve world-leading low power consumption. By combining Multi-Band 6 technology for receiving time calibration signals transmitted from six stations around the world with the GPS receiving function in a hybrid system, this new G-SHOCK can keep accurate time anywhere in the world. The watch automatically receives radio waves carrying standard time data where available. When they are not available, the watch automatically receives GPS signals and adjusts the time.

-EDIFICE EQB-500 links with smartphone using Bluetooth(R) V4.0
The watch is equipped with ultra-low energy consumption Bluetooth(R) Low Energy LSI ML7105 wireless technology developed jointly with LAPIS Semiconductor Co., Ltd. While displaying time information from a smartphone, the watch allows its world time and alarm functions to be set from the same smartphone.

Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced on October 31 that it has developed two iOS apps -- Chordana Tap and Chordana Viewer -- that let users play musical accompaniment to their favorite songs. The apps are available on the Apple App Store now.

Employing Casio's proprietary Chordana music analysis technology, the apps can detect musical chord progressions by analyzing the frequency characteristics and temporal changes of an audio file. Users can then play along as an accompanist when playing back songs stored in iOS devices.

Yamagata Casio Co., Ltd., a manufacturing subsidiary of Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced on November 13 that it has applied technologies accumulated through the production of Casio products to develop an underwater transceiver that lets users enjoy spoken conversation when scuba diving. Casio will display a prototype of the new Logosease dive transceiver at the Diving Equipment and Marketing Association Show 2012 in Las Vegas, the U.S.A., from November 14.

The Logosease is a transceiver that allows users to have spoken conversations underwater, revolutionizing the diving experience by solving the problem of communication limited to written signs and basic hand signals. With the Logosease, which is small enough to fit into a pocket and attach to the strap of a diving mask, divers can converse normally with the scuba regulator in their mouths. Since a full-face mask or any other type of special equipment is unnecessary, the Logosease lets leisure divers converse with ease.

Main Features
-- Wireless communications enabled by ultrasound and bone conduction technologies
The Logosease employs an ultrasound range of 32 kilohertz to enable wireless communication between users within visual range underwater. Multiple divers can each wear a transceiver and enjoy conversing in a group. The microphone and speaker employ a bone conduction method, and the reception and transmission modes can be switched by lightly tapping the device once.

-- Built-in digital speech conversion technology
The Logosease modulates garbled underwater speech and transmits it, making it easier to hear using digital speech conversion technology* jointly developed with Professor Tetsuo Kosaka of the Yamagata University Graduate School of Science and Engineering. This technology makes it easier to hear the voiced "n," "m," "b" and "p" consonants, which are difficult to pronounce when diving because the nose is blocked by the scuba mask and the air-supplying regulator is in the mouth.

Yamagata Casio has applied technologies accumulated through the production of Casio products to realize waterproof performance of up to 180 feet for this transceiver. This is more than sufficient for the basic performance needed for recreational diving, which is limited to a depth of 130 feet. Furthermore, the Logosease is compact and lightweight, measuring 3.50x1.61x1.76 inches and weighing 3.77 ounces, making it possible to attach to the strap of a diving mask.

* Underwater voiced speech varies depending on the person and/or surrounding conditions. Yamagata Casio does not guarantee that the Logosease will deliver audible and comprehensible underwater speech.
