Freeplus Co., Ltd., which handles the Japan tourism business, is starting a Japan tourism information distribution service called  "JAPAN TIMELINE " on April 7.

- Background
There are two problems when creating Japan tours:

1: Japanese local governments do not have the ways and means to release local information to overseas travel agencies.
2: Overseas travel agencies do not have the ways and means to get the latest information about Japan.

"JAPAN TIMELINE " can help solve these problems:

1: Freeplus Co., Ltd., is a land operator specialized in Japan tours and has a broad network with more than 1,000 travel agencies all over Asia.
"JAPAN TIMELINE " is a platform that connects about 1,000 overseas travel agencies with Japan's 47 prefectural governments.

2: Overseas travel agencies browse Japanese websites of local governments for the latest local information.
However there are two problems.
One is that information about interregional tours cannot be gathered by a single local website.
The other problem is that the websites do not provide information in languages of Asian countries.
"JAPAN TIMELINE " will solve these problems by integrating information from the 47 prefectural governments and providing information in 7 languages.

- Outline of products and service
  "JAPAN TIMELINE " is a website where the 47 prefectural governments in Japan provide local tourism information to travel agencies around the world.
This site is designed for overseas travel agencies, but anyone can access the site and get information about Japanese tourism.
Each of the 47 prefectural governments in Japan has its own website page.
They can post information about their local tourist spots, festivals and photos (royalty-free) and also edit their information by themselves.
Each page has a timeline, which is the greatest point of this website.

Basic information about tourist spots will not be changed, but prefectural governments can update the latest information about  "what is happening now" through the timeline.

The updated information is listed in chronological order on the timeline.

All information, including timeline posts, will be translated into 7 languages.
"JAPAN TIMELINE " is free of charge to use.
"JAPAN TIMELINE " will start on April 7, 2014.

Three distinctions
1: Each of the 47 prefectural governments will have its own unique page, and they can update information through their timeline, which will be translated and released in 7 languages.
2: This is a portal website for overseas travel agencies. There is no limit for browsing, and it is accessible from all over the world.
3: It is free of charge in the immediate future.

Outlook for the future
1:  "JAPAN TIMELINE " currently has concluded contracts with 14 prefectural governments and is expected to have contracts with all 47 prefectures by March 2015.
2: We are expanding our connections with overseas travel agencies from the current 1,000 to 1,300 by March 2015.
3: We will implement necessary measures to increase timeline updates to more than 2,000 by March 2015.
