JTB Western Japan Opens Tourist Information Center
for Overseas Visitors at Kyoto Tower
JTB Western Japan, Corp. and Keihan Electric Railway Co., Ltd. jointly opened Kansai Tourist Information Center Kyoto (KTIC Kyoto) on June 1, on the third floor of Kyoto Tower. KTIC Kyoto will cater exclusively to overseas visitors to Japan.

JTB Western Japan has been expanding a network of tourist information centers for inbound tourists in the Kansai region and KTIC Kyoto will be the third of its kind after previous openings at Shinsaibashi in Osaka and Kansai International Airport.

The widely diversified Keihan group based in Kyoto is pouring resources into "tourism creation" and aiming to attract more overseas visitors through the establishment of KTIC Kyoto at Kyoto Tower, one of its group companies.

JR Kyoto Station is the gateway for visitors to Kyoto, one of the world's most popular sightseeing destinations, and is expected to attract many more overseas visitors in the future. Kyoto Tower is a landmark located at the north entrance of JR Kyoto Station. KTIC Kyoto will provide a wide variety of services including offering tourist information about Kyoto and other spots in Japan, handling reservations for JTB's package tours aimed at overseas visitors like "Sunrise Tours" and "Experience Kansai," selling transportation passes and making arrangements for luggage delivery.

JTB Western Japan Opens Tourist Information Center for Overseas Visitors in Osaka's Shinsaibashi
JTB Western Japan, Corp. opened on December 10 Kansai Tourist Information Center Shinsaibashi (KTICS) in Osaka's Shinsaibashi district, a popular shopping and entertainment spot among overseas visitors to Japan. KTICS is located on the third floor above the Tommy Hilfiger store.

The number of overseas visitors to Japan has been on the rise in recent years. Their travel styles have diversified from traveling in package tours or small groups to traveling as free independent travelers (FIT). The Kansai region in western Japan in particular can expect further increases in visitor numbers as low-cost carriers (LCC) are opening new routes between Kansai International Airport and airports in Asia and other parts of the world.

Taking into consideration the changing international travel climate and how best to serve overseas visitors to the Kansai region, JTB Western Japan made the decision to establish KTICS.
