Large numbers of foreign tourists are visiting Decks Tokyo Beach, a unique commercial complex combining amusement facilities, theme restaurants and fashion boutiques, located in Odaiba, one of the most popular destinations in Tokyo within 15 minutes of Haneda Airport by car.

This year, Decks Tokyo Beach will become an even more exciting place to visit as it upgrades its signature illumination into a three-part show of light, "Odaiba Illumination Yakei (night view)," including Asia's first 360-degree projection system that captures people's movements with sensors and reflect their images accordingly, 40 illuminated trees lining up a 200-meter pathway and a 20-meter-tall Christmas tree. Visitors can also enjoy a commanding view of Tokyo Tower, the symbol of Tokyo, as well as Rainbow Bridge against the beautifully illuminated skylines.

In Decks Tokyo Beach, life-size figures of the world-famous pop boy band One Direction will be displayed for the second time from Dec. 21, 2014, to March 2, 2015, at Madame Tussauds Tokyo with over 60 life-size figures of the world's celebrities. Under an agreement on collaboration with 1D Store, One Direction's official store, original merchandise, including some which have never been sold here before, will be on sale and posters and the members' autographs will be exhibited from January 31 to February 15, 2015.

Moreover, Decks Tokyo Beach will launch a telephone interpretation service linking foreign tourists, Decks Tokyo Beach staff and translation operators. The three-way service is available in Chinese, Korean, English and other languages, promising them with an even more carefree experience.

1. Spring-only New Menu at Takoyaki Museum

"Odaiba Takoyaki Museum" specializes in takoyaki (dumpling-like pastry stuffed with diced octopus), an affordable delicacy in Japan. Five popular stores from Osaka - home to takoyaki - are here. Special spring menus are offered from March 17 through April 18. "Mentai Mayo and Drink Set" for 810 yen is a set of takoyaki with diced yam potatoes cooked in Japanese dashi stock folded in, topped with mentai mayo (cod roe pickled in red pepper powder mixed in mayonnaise) prepared by a former chef of a "washoku" restaurant, plus a soft drink. At "Tennoji Abeno Takoyaki Yama-chan," a special set of 36 takoyaki dumplings in six flavors - Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, pungent, yuzu-and-soy sauce, leak-and-salt and plain - comes with four soft drinks for 2,857 yen (not including tax).

2. Dining with "Rainbow Bridge" view in Tokyo Bay

Now registered as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage, "Washoku (Japanese cuisine)" is attracting increasing attention overseas. The Daiba branch of "Tsukiji Tama Sushi" offers popular sushi as well as the panoramic views of "Tokyo Rainbow Bridge" and "Tokyo Tower." The menu is also available in English, Chinese and Korean.

The Daiba branch of "Tsukiji Uemura," whose main store won a star from Michelin last year, offers authentic washoku meals.

3. A tie-up event with 2D/3D "Lego (R) Movie" to open March 21 (Fri.)

At DECKS Tokyo Beach's "Legoland Discovery Centre, Tokyo," the first Legoland in Asia, "Waku-waku (exciting) Stamp Rally" will be held from March 17 through April 18 in tie-up with "Lego (R) Movie," which will open March 21 in 2D/3D. Visitors can obtain a stamp rally card in exchange for receipts of at least 2,000 yen from shops and restaurants in the facility (only receipts over 2,000 yen are valid). Getting three stamps on the card featuring "Emmet," the hero of the movie, within the facility will give visitors a chance to win prizes in a lottery. T-shirts, mini figures, tickets to Legoland, vouchers for shopping within DECKS Tokyo Beach, etc. will be given away to 95 lucky winners in the lottery.

2. Tsukiji Tama Sushi
The Daiba branch of "Tsukiji Tama Sushi," in business since 1924, offers sushi, which is also widely popular overseas. Its "all-you-can-eat" course allows guests to enjoy salmon, tuna and scallops (favorites among foreign guests) as well as expensive sea urchins and salmon roe to their heart's content. The menu is available in English, Chinese and Korean.

3. Khazana
Indian restaurant "Khazana," in business for more than 30 years, offers authentic Indian cuisine at reasonable prices. All dishes are "halal," or in accordance with Islamic dietary rules, allowing Muslim diners to enjoy their meals without worry.

*Illuminated "Daiba Memorial Tree"
Visitors can enjoy the sight of this 20-meter-high live tree -- the tallest decorated live tree in Tokyo -- illuminated by about 120,000 LED lamps through March 16, 2014 (Sunday). This rare seasonal illumination spot in Tokyo commands the views of "Tokyo Tower," "Rainbow Bridge" and "Tokyo Skytree" simultaneously. The LEDs change their colors every 15 minutes as music plays. It is also a destination included in many organized tours.

It features "Daiba Tower," modeled on Tokyo Tower; "Showa Station," patterned after the Shinkansen bullet train, the symbol of Japan's high economic growth in the middle of the Showa era; "dagashi-ya" (mom-and-pop candy shops); and game arcades of old days. It is a zone very popular among young and old alike as well as among foreign visitors.

The museum opened for business on November 6, 2010, the 75th year after the birth of takoyaki. It features five popular takoyaki shops from Osaka, where takoyaki is a local specialty. Visitors can enjoy 30 varieties of characteristic takoyaki, ranging from traditional to innovative takoyaki, as well as takoyaki-related goods.

At the center of a zone covering 831.92 square meters, there is a common eating area with 128 seats, where visitors can savor piping-hot takoyaki in an atmosphere like that at a temple festival.

In addition to these shops, there are a chronological table showing anecdotes about the birth of takoyaki, a display of cast-iron takoyaki griddles with half-spherical molds, and "Takoyaki Ebisu Shrine," a branch of "Imamiya Ebisu Shrine" in Osaka, which is famous for bringing good luck to business. It is a food theme park featuring takoyaki from end to end.

***TOKYO JOYPOLIS***
TOKYO JOYPOLIS opened in July 1996 as one of the largest indoor amusement parks in Japan. It reopened in July 2012 as a new facility built under the concept of "DigitaReal" (the fusion of digital and real).

It features more than 20 attractions of a wide variety, including scream-inducing facilities such as a roller coaster and a horror house, and a fortune-telling event. There are also live performances on "DigitaReal Live Stage." Visitors can enjoy novel, state-of-the-art, out-of-the-ordinary experiences.

***Madame Tussauds Tokyo***
"Madame Tussauds Tokyo," which opened on March 15, 2013, features life-size figures of Lady Gaga, Madonna, Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie and other big-name artists and Hollywood celebrities, and world-famous athletes like David Beckham and Lionel Messi as well as popular Japanese stars. Visitors can enjoy celebrity experiences with these life-size wax figures authorized by the big shots they represent.

***Legoland Discovery Center, Tokyo***
"Legoland Discovery Center, Tokyo" is a colorful indoor attraction, filled with Lego (R) blocks. There are many attractions which families can enjoy together, such as laser-beam shooting games and other rides, Lego classes in which visitors can work with Lego (R) blocks, and the "Lego Racer" to build cars with Lego (R) blocks. Next to the center is a shop selling more than 400 varieties of Lego (R) merchandise.

***Tokyo Trick Art Museum***
The "Tokyo Trick Art Museum" opened in July 2011 as the world's first museum of the sort built on the theme of "Edo" (an old name for Tokyo). It exhibits the latest 45 works, primarily those in Japanese style, and is very popular among visitors because it allows them to "experience" them by touching or taking photographs of them. It has attracted a large number of visitors since its opening about two years ago.

If a visitor stands in front of "Three koalas" depicting three-dimensional koala bears and has his or her picture taken, it produces a three-dimensional composition which gives him or her an illusion that the bears are on his or her head. It is popular among visitors because they can feel the cute animals close to them in the wood and have a picture taken with them. With rich imagination, visitors can have many mysterious pictures taken by becoming a part of the art work.
