Japanese game developer CYBIRD Co., Ltd., which has been officially acquired by Aeria, Inc., announced on July 3 the appointment of Shuji Utsumi, who has been CYBIRD’s President since 2016, as its Chief Executive Officer.

CYBIRD is a Japan-based mobile game and entertainment provider with a history dating back to 1998. Its main-force products, led by the Ikemen Series of romance games targeting female game players, are among the most popular online games in Japan. Currently CYBIRD is providing its games to users globally.

Aeria is a Japanese company specializing in the online game business. In recent years, it has been focusing its energies on the women's game market and acquiring other game companies that own and operate leading titles into its corporate group.

By welcoming CYBIRD as a member company at this time, the Aeria Group has become the number-one provider of women‘s games in the Japanese market.

Conclude Licensing Agreement for Worldwide Distribution
of English Version of Ikemen Actor-Training Game “A3!”
Japanese game developer CYBIRD Co., Ltd. announced on June 28 that it has concluded a licensing agreement with Liber Entertainment Inc., (hereinafter Liber) concerning the worldwide distribution of the English version of the Liber-developed and operated ikemen actor-training game “A3!”

Ikemen is a Japanese word of recent origin meaning a good-looking man. A3! is an ikemen actor-training game in which the player becomes a theater company president and general manager with the power to cast ikemen troupe members while enjoying a story of youthful adventure. The main story is narrated in full voice by a group of distinguished voice actors.

A3! is very popular as a game in which budding ikemen actors, each belonging to one of four troupes -- the Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter Troupes -- develop their talent and slowly emerge into full bloom on the stage of a small theater.

Since beginning distribution simultaneously on iOS and Android on January 27, 2017, this title has achieved a steady increase in sales, with total downloads exceeding 5 million in March 2018. Also, A3! has become a hit title in the Japanese iOS game sales rankings, reaching as high as 2nd place in the rankings on two occasions (June 9, 2017, and January 10, 2018).

On Thursday, June 28, 2018, CYBIRD became a wholly owned subsidiary of Japanese online games company Aeria Inc., making it a member of the Aeria Group alongside Liber.

CYBIRD is active as a pioneer of overseas distribution of game content. The company is convinced that it can achieve strong intergroup synergies by handling overseas distribution of A3!, Liber's top-selling game for women in Japan, utilizing the operation channels CYBIRD has already cultivated overseas for its own Ikemen Series and its multifaceted customer attraction know-how. Now the two companies have signed an agreement to facilitate this development.

In the North American market, the popularity of Japanese animation and content is rapidly gaining momentum, as indicated by the increasing number of visitors to the annual Anime Expo (2017 total turnstile attendance over 350,000). Conversely, for women's games, the scale of the North American market remains small compared with the Japanese and Asian markets, and it is expected to take some time to expand.

Accordingly, in the promotion and deployment strategy of CYBIRD and Liber for A3! in the North American market, the two companies are initially planning to launch the service after first increasing the game’s recognition level as a first step toward drawing attention to its worldview.

Through the present agreement, the duo will focus on enabling more people to enjoy playing A3! in the English-speaking zone known as the global market, while also achieving synergies by drawing on the respective strengths of the Aeria Group’s various member companies.

As of the date of this press release, the launch date of the A3! English edition service is undecided. CYBIRD will announce the date in a future press release as soon as the decision is finalized.

At the end of May this year, CYBIRD released the English version of the popular Japanese mobile “otome” (maiden) game, Ikemen Revolution: Love & Magic in Wonderland. The booth will have original merchandise for both the newest title, and CYBIRD’s super popular title, Ikemen Sengoku: Romances Across Time.

This year’s merchandise will feature original illustrations of characters from both games. Ikemen Sengoku’s artist Shiro Yamada and Ikemen Revolution’s artist TCB have created gorgeously detailed and sexy illustrations to coordinate with the “Splash of Love” theme.

Japanese game developer CYBIRD Co., Ltd. announced on July 7 that manga legend CAPTAIN TSUBASA will star in its new football game, "BFB Champions: Global Kick-Off." CAPTAIN TSUBASA and his teammates will appear as characters in the game after it is launched in the West later this year on smartphones. To celebrate the announcement, anyone attending the Japan Expo event that takes place in Paris on July 7-10 will be able to get a glimpse of this fictional footballing genius while picking up all sorts of soccer-themed swag.

Japan Expo takes place from July 7 to 10 at the Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center, and attendees who drop by the BFB Champions booth (Hall 5A, G206) in the Saiko Japan area will be able to pick up CAPTAIN TSUBASA -themed fans, bags, and a series of postcards that feature specially commissioned art by CAPTAIN TSUBASA creator Yoichi Takahashi. Pick up a postcard and you can enter a prize draw to win limited-edition prints of the original artwork or Takahashi's signature!

"BFB Champions: Global Kick-Off" allows players to compete in leagues and against players all over the world as the manager of a football club. The game was launched in Japan and Hong Kong at the end of June, and has already been downloaded over 300,000 times. It is currently in soft launch in Scandinavian territories.

CAPTAIN TSUBASA and his teammates are set to join the game's cover star, Diego Maradona, as players in the game for would-be managers to pick for their squads. And while he is little known in Britain, this fictional footballing genius was a real-life inspiration to a generation of European soccer superstars from Ozil to Zidane thanks to localized versions of the long-running Japanese manga created by Takahashi in 1981.

Maradona Unveiled as Star of BFB Champions: Global Kick-Off
Japanese game developer CYBIRD Co., Ltd. announced on May 25 that Diego Maradona will be the star player for its new football game BFB Champions: Global Kick-Off, BFB Champions: Global Kick-Off is a sequel to the Japanese smash-hit soccer game BFB 2016 and is coming to smartphones in the West later this year. Maradona will appear on publicity materials and as a 3D character in the game. Fans will be given their first glimpse of the digital Maradona in action in a trailer unveiled today.

Maradona needs no introduction: truly one of the greats of world football, revered or reviled depending on your footballing persuasion. Now, 30 years after inflicting a world of hurt on English football, would-be managers can put him in their own team or get revenge by beating rivals who have him in theirs. Are you going to play with him? Or against him?

Fans will first get to see Maradona in action in a teaser trailer recreating his famous 'Goal of the Century' against England in the 1986 World Cup. They can also sign up for a special preregistration bonus campaign in order to unlock Maradona as a player for their squad when the game is launched later this year.

On May 18, CYBIRD Co., Ltd. launched a special preregistration bonus campaign for its new smartphone game BFB Champions: Global Kick-Off, a sequel to the Japanese smash-hit soccer game BFB 2016. The campaign will reward users who sign up in advance with in-game items when the app is launched later this year.

Making use of the latest app-marketing techniques from Japan, where preregistration bonus campaigns are a widely used launch strategy, CYBIRD will be running two types of preregistration campaign: an online lucky dip minigame; and a reward tier campaign. Both campaigns will run until the Japanese launch of BFB Champions, at the end of June, and more details about each of them are below.

Lucky dip campaign:
Users who sign up at the dedicated campaign website will be able to play a lucky dip minigame to try to unlock a set of around 16 football players. Users can then choose one of the players they have unlocked to receive as a gift in the game when it launches later this year, along with another very special player.

CYBIRD Co., Ltd. has announced that the latest game in their "Ikemen Series" of Romance Games, "Destined to Love: Ikemen Samurai Romances", is now available for play in both the App Store and GooglePlay. The website for this game (URL: https://www.cyikemen.com/DestinedToLove/) was launched in October 28.

"Destined to Love: Ikemen Samurai Romances" is CYBIRD's second English Ikemen title following "Midnight Cinderella: Ikemen Royal Romances," which was very well received by many North American customers and entered the Top 100 Overall Sales Ranking in the App Store with over 600,000 downloads.

Like its Japanese counterpart, in "Destined to Love: Ikemen Samurai Romances," the player is given five free chapter tickets each day to read a story about a modern-day woman who travels back in time to Kyoto at the end of the Edo Period, where she meets 13 hot heroes who are living in the last days of the shogunate. The characters that you are able to pick at the start of the game consist of the fierce Vice Commander of the Shinsengumi, Toshizo Hijikata, the Commander of the Shinsengumi's 3rd Unit, Hajime Saito, and a hero of the Choshu clan who is on the run from the Shinsengumi, named Kogoro Katsura. In order to match the tastes of the North American target, the first three available character routes have been changed from the Japanese edition.

As a result of the player's actions, the story can change substantially leading to a situation where the heroine either falls in love with one of the characters or is loved by one of them.

CYBIRD plans to continue to actively develop high-quality services with the aim of becoming the number-one provider of romance games for women worldwide.

CYBIRD Begins Worldwide Treasure Hunt with Puzzle-solving Picture Book App NAZO

-App to Give Everyone Chance to Obtain All Kinds of Dreamlike Adventures, Times and Goods-

   CYBIRD Co., Ltd. announced that it is beginning distribution of iOS and android app versions of the puzzle-solving picture book NAZO, which attracted widespread attention upon its initial release in the autumn of 2013, from Amazon Appstore in 20 countries around the world.

    With the magical Theatre NAZO as its stage, the NAZO app contains an adventure game in which the player solves a long list of mysteries that are revealed by the manager as the story plays out in the theatre, until they eventually get the chance to obtain an item of real "treasure" in the end.

    Also, CYBIRD announced the launch of its Share the Dream Project, which is an attempt to help children around the world in situations that make it difficult for them to discover and pursue their own dreams.

    App users the world over will flock to the NAZO app in response to the various "treasures" provided by famous people from around the world who have agreed to chip in  the project. All proceeds from the sale of the Donation Ticket to these users will be used to help children in circumstances that make it difficult for them to possess and follow their dreams by means of a music education program called El Sistema.
