The event will be held from Thursday, April 9, to Monday, July 6, 2026.

TOKYO SKYTREE Offers Special Tours for Inbound Visitors to Enjoy Japanese Culture Such as Geisha and Sumo on Observation Deck Open Exclusively for Tour Participants

TOBU TOWER SKYTREE Co., Ltd., the operator of the world’s tallest free-standing broadcasting tower, TOKYO SKYTREE, has begun selling tours for inbound visitors to enjoy Japanese culture from Sumida City, where the tower is located. The Tour features a performance by geisha (traditional entertainers of Japanese arts) and a sumo show as well as a photo session on the tower's observation deck, where tour participants will be allowed special admission before or after regular business hours.

The tours include a night plan that allows inbound visitors to enjoy a night view from the tower’s observation deck after business hours, and a dance performance by geisha from Sumida City’s "hanamachi," or an entertainment district, a culture handed down from the Edo Period (1603-1867).

The other tour is an early morning plan where participants can enjoy a specially prepared breakfast that uses Tokyo’s local ingredients while viewing the sunrise from the observation deck, watch a sumo show by retired wrestlers, participate in a mock sumo match while wearing a wrestler’s full-body costume, and have professional photographs taken.

The company also sells a mini plan where participants are given priority entry to TOKYO SKYTREE, accompanied by their private guide, with a souvenir of a shot glass of Edo kiriko, traditional cut glassware in Sumida City.

“TAX REFUND COUNTER” Opens at TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN on Nov. 29, 2017, to Enhance Convenience of Foreign Tourists
TOBU RAILWAY CO., LTD., TOBU TOWER SKYTREE CO., LTD. and TOBU TOWN SOLAMACHI CO., LTD. are jointly promoting their “Shitamachi (traditional old town area with feudal Edo atmosphere) Wonderland” plan toward a new era as five years have passed since TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN was opened.

As part of the plan, “TAX REFUND COUNTER” was opened at TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, to allow tourists from abroad to go through procedures for receiving tax refunds or exemptions for goods they buy at many shops at TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN, thereby further enhancing the convenience of foreign visitors.

At this counter, inbound tourists can now apply for tax refunds or exemptions based on the total prices of goods they buy at multiple shops at TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN although they had previously been required to go through such procedures at each establishment where they did shopping. The counter can handle tax refund and exemption procedures for goods bought at a total of 79 shops at TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN, including those which already handle such procedures on their own.

“THE SKYTREE SHOP,” TOKYO SKYTREE’s official shop, will participate in the project beginning in the spring of 2018, and the number of shops participating in the project will increase on a step-by-step basis.

Officials at TOBU RAILWAY, TOBU TOWER SKYTREE and TOBU TOWN SOLAMACHI say they are determined to implement new measures to improve services for inbound tourists in addition to a tourist information office for inbound tourists officially endorsed by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), automatic currency exchangers and free Wi-Fi service, all of which are already available at TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN.

TOKYO SKYTREE (SM) Releases "Fast Skytree Combo ticket" to Observation Decks for International Visitors
TOKYO SKYTREE, operated by TOBU TOWER SKYTREE CO., LTD., released the "Fast Skytree Combo ticket" to the tower's observation decks, "Tembo Deck" and "Tembo Galleria" exclusively for visitors from overseas on July 1, 2016. The admission fee system has also been simplified under the new ticket, which is easier for inbound tourists to understand.

TOKYO SKYTREE launched the "Fast Skytree Ticket" -- the predecessor to the "Fast Skytree Combo ticket" -- exclusively for visitors from overseas on February 19, 2015, to allow them to swiftly enter the Tembo Deck without waiting in line at the ticket window to buy admission tickets, thereby improving their convenience.

A ticket to Tembo Galleria was added to the "Fast Skytree Ticket" and the four age-based fee levels under the "Fast Skytree Ticket" have been reduced to two under the "Fast Skytree Combo ticket." The new ticket has thus further improved the convenience of inbound tourists visiting TOKYO SKYTREE.

The ratio of individual visitors to TOKYO SKYTREE from abroad has been steadily increasing -- from 6.8% in fiscal 2013 to 12.4% in fiscal 2014 and to 15.4% in fiscal 2015 (*). In response, TOKYO SKYTREE has launched a wide variety of services since its opening in 2012 to better meet their needs.
TOKYO SKYTREE is determined to continue to take measures to increase the convenience of visitors from overseas.

(*) The figures are based on the outcome of surveys on the ratios of international
visitors (excluding those on group tours) and the breakdown of their places of departure (countries and regions), which TOBU TOWER SKYTREE CO., LTD. has conducted since 2013. In the surveys, the company interviewed international visitors who bought admission tickets to TOKYO SKYTREE (excluding those on group tours) - on three occasions totaling six days in fiscal 2013 and 2014 each, and on five occasions totaling 10 days in fiscal 2015.

for Foreign Tourists
Tobu Tower Skytree Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Sumida Ward, Tokyo; President: Masaaki Ito) has started selling "Fast Skytree Ticket," the first admission ticket aimed at foreign visitors to Tokyo Skytree run by the company as part of its efforts to improve convenience and enhance services for foreign visitors to Japan.

Specified in the "Tobu Group Midterm Management Plan for 2014-2016" as one of measures to enhance services for foreign visitors to Japan, the admission ticket is sold at "Fast Skytree Ticket Counter," a fast-lane ticket counter allowing foreign tourists with tight schedule to enjoy the view from the immensely popular observation deck without waiting in line for a long time.

The fast-lane ticket counter opened on Feb. 19 in time for accommodating visitors from the greater China region who are expected to visit Japan in large numbers during the Lunar New Year holidays.
