The Aomori Prefectural Government released a music video dubbed “JOMON” on February 20 in collaboration with the local pop group “RINGOMUSUME” (literally meaning “Apple Girls”). Aomori Prefecture hosts 8 out of a total of 17 Jomon Period (13,000 to 400 BCE) sites, which the Japanese government recommended as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage candidate for 2021.

The music video conveys the charms of the Jomon Period sites with images of stunning beauty, including those of clay figurines and jades, among other items, as it features the pop group “RINGOMUSUME,” wearing Jomon-inspired costumes, singing the tie-in song “JOMON,” and dancing on stage at Jomon Period archaeological sites in Aomori Prefecture.

The cluster of Jomon Period archaeological sites represents a prehistoric cultural heritage characterized by the coexistence between human beings and nature for more than 10,000 years -- a rare development in world history. The Aomori Prefectural Government believes that the music video will provide many inspirations for people’s efforts toward a sustainable and better world in modern times.

RINGOMUSUME (http://ringomusume.com/) is intended to help promote regional revitalization in Aomori Prefecture. The group, aimed at energizing the primary industry through entertainment, has been attracting attention as a leading regional pop group in Japan.

The Jomon Prehistoric Sites in Northern Japan
The group of Jomon Period archaeological sites of northern Japan, which consists of 17 sets of sites in Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate, and Akita prefectures, is a precious cultural heritage that has passed down to the present day the lives and spiritual culture of the people who lived on gathering, fishing, and hunting for more than 10,000 years in the preagricultural period. The group of those archaeological sites is seeking approval in 2021 by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee to be inscribed on the World Cultural Heritage list.

　2021年の世界文化遺産登録を目指す北海道・北東北の縄文遺跡群。その中心ともいえる青森県が、県内８つの縄文遺跡を舞台に「青森の縄文遺跡群」のイメージソングを制作。バラエティー番組出演など全国的にも活躍している王林（おうりん）率いるRINGOMUSUME（りんご娘）が、縄文からインスピレーションを得た現代的衣装に身を固め、縄文遺跡を舞台に歌とダンス、遺跡の空撮や出土品など圧倒的な映像美で縄文遺跡の魅力を伝えます。

＜多田慎也　プロフィール＞
　2007年嵐のシングル『Love so sweet』のカップリング曲『いつまでも』で作曲家デビュー。以降、嵐、AKB48など数々のトップアーティストの作詞、作曲を担当。作曲を担当したAKB48『ポニーテールとシュシュ』で2012年JASRAC賞銀賞を受賞。
　りんご娘との出会いをきっかけに青森県とつながりをもち、2018年11月より弘前市に移住。楽曲制作に関わったアーティストは100を超え、トータル300曲以上の楽曲を世に送り出しながらも、音楽制作にとどまらないマルチな活動を展開している。

＜RINGOMUSUME（りんご娘）　プロフィール＞
　2000年7月に青森県弘前市で結成されたボランティア集団「弘前アクターズスクールプロジェクト」から誕生したダンス＆ボーカルユニット。音楽・芸能活動を通した地方からの情報発信と地元青森の活性化、全国、海外の第1次産業をエンタテイメントで元気付けることを目標としている。
　メンバーの名前には、りんご王国ならではのこだわりがあり、プロジェクトの指針の元、地元の活性化という願いをこめ、青森県が全国生産量№１を誇るりんごの品種名がつけられている。また、食料自給率100％を超える青森県らしく、TVやプライベートでも実際に農業に挑戦する「農業活性化ユニット」としても知られている。
　年間80本以上のイベント出演や、地元施設へのライブの他、ＴＶやラジオ、ＣＭへの出演も数多く、青森県での認知度はほぼ100％。2000年より続く地方アイドルのトップランナーとして注目を集めている。

Aomori Claims Guinness World Record to Promote Bid for
World Heritage Registration of Prehistoric Ruins
– by Creating Giant Message with Handprint Cutouts
Japan’s northern prefecture of Aomori claimed a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records on September 14 as part of its promotional campaign to have archaeological ruins in the region registered as World Heritage sites in 2021.

The cluster of ruins located in Aomori and surrounding areas are some of the sites that belong to the prehistoric Jomon period, which almost corresponds to the Neolithic Age, and are scattered around Japan as testimony to a primitive hunter-gatherer culture.

The Aomori Prefectural Government collected “paper hands,” or cutouts of handprints, from visitors to the Sannai Maruyama and Komakino ruins in the prefecture from August. The cutouts were reduced in size and assembled on a huge sheet of paper to form Japanese letters that roughly meant “Go for it! World Heritage Registration of Jomon in 2021!” The message measured 3.6 meters by 6.7 meters.

In total, 2,476 handprint cutouts were collected, exceeding the initial target of 2021, and the huge message was formally recognized as the “Largest Paper Hand Sentence” by the Guinness book, according to Aomori officials. They likened the art of combining handprint cutouts to the Jomon period tradition of molding earthenware patterned with handprints of children.

The certification of the record was announced at a commemorative event at the Sannai Maruyama site on September 14 amid thunderous applause and cheers from the participants including Aomori Governor Shingo Mimura. The final four handprint cutouts were attached to the message by a popular local all-girl pop group, Ringo Musume (Apple Girls).

Aomori has earned a spot in the Guinness book for three straight years. In 2017, it was recognized to have organized the world’s largest archaeological classroom, formally called the “Largest Archaeology Lesson.” It created a boar-shaped object made of folding paper in 2018, which was recognized as the “Largest Display of Origami Pigs/Boars.” The prefectural government will continue to promote the cluster of Jomon ruins with its sights set on their registration as World Heritage sites in 2021.

ぐるり青森～道南観光PRイベント開催！
2015年度末に、予定されている北海道新幹線の開業を記念し、青森県と道南地域とを一つの旅行エリアと捉えた新しい魅力を発信する「ぐるり青森～道南観光PRイベント」を開催致します。

イベントでは、北海道新幹線開業に伴い設置される新駅「奥津軽いまべつ駅」や、7月から9月の間、JR東日本が実施する「青森県・函館観光キャンペーン」と連動し、首都圏における青森県及び道南地域の観光キャンペーンを実施し、両地域の魅力を首都圏の皆様にアピールします。

また、イベントを盛り上げるべく多くのステージコンテンツをご用意しました。
オープニングセレモニーでは、鏡割にかえて、青森県産のりんごを使用したお酒「シードル」を用いたシャンパンタワーならぬシードルタワーを実施する他、青森県今別町の伝統芸能「今別荒馬踊り」や津軽三味線演奏者「今千里」さんのコンサートを行います。また、青森県で誕生した、男子新体操とダンスとを組み合わせたプロのエンターテインメント集団「BLUE TOKYO」の迫力あるパフォーマンスも見物です。
展示コーナーでは、青森の最大の魅力である「ねぶた」や、「青森りんご」を使用したオブジェは思わず写真に撮りたくなるようなかわらしいデザインとなっております。
その他、青森県と道南地域の人気のスイーツを集めた物産展や、奥入瀬渓流をほうふつさせるこけ玉が作れる体験コーナーも用意致します。
