In preparation for the opening of Warner Bros. Studio Tour Tokyo -- The Making of Harry Potter (hereinafter "Studio Tour Tokyo"), Seibu Railway Co., Ltd. based in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, has completed renovation of Ikebukuro and Toshimaen stations, beginning operations of Studio Tour Tokyo Express trains with full-body wrap signage.

- Platforms 1 and 2 of Ikebukuro Station renovated to resemble London's King's Cross Station
At Ikebukuro Station, the gateway to Studio Tour Tokyo, Platforms 1 and 2, where trains to and from Toshimaen Station depart and arrive, have been remodeled with brick walls and navy signage, patterned after King's Cross Station in London, England. To commemorate the renovation, Warner Bros. has gifted a clock in the same design as that at King's Cross Station in the Harry Potter film series. With illustrations of subjects such as wizards and owls throughout, these platforms welcome passengers as the gateway to Studio Tour Tokyo, where they can experience the magic of filmmaking to the fullest.

- Toshimaen Station renovated to resemble Hogsmeade Station, the nearest station to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Based on the concept of a station that blends imagination into everyday life, the new building at Toshimaen Station, the nearest station to Studio Tour Tokyo, features touches giving a feel of the world of magic added to a simple design, evoking a gateway between the everyday world and an out-of-the-ordinary space. The Toshimaen Station platforms feature pillars, station signage, vending machines, and other fixtures designed with a red-color scheme closely resembling Hogsmeade Station, which provides access to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The station signs feature the Studio Tour Tokyo logo as an alternate station name. A stag and doe evoking the Patronus Spirit Guardians from the Harry Potter film series adorn the station square. Patronus guards the brand-new Toshimaen Station and station square to protect passengers.

SEIBU RAILWAY Co., Ltd. started selling “MOOMINVALLEY PARK Ticket & Travel Pass” on July 20 (Saturday), 2019, a specially planned ticket to allow foreign visitors to enjoy themselves at the highly popular Moominvalley Park conveniently at a visitor-friendly price. Four other companies -- Moomin Monogatari, Ltd., Eagle Bus Co., Ltd., Kokusai Kogyo Co., Ltd., and Seibu Bus Co., Ltd. -- are also involved in the ticket sales program. It is a specially planned set of three tickets covering admission to the Moominvalley Park, all-day SEIBU train rides (SEIBU 1Day Pass), and a round-trip bus ride between the Moominvalley Park and a nearby railway station. The “1Day Pass” also allows visits to tourist spots along the SEIBU lines such as Kawagoe and Chichibu areas. Furthermore, the pass itself is specially designed so that visitors can take it home as a memory.

New Limited Express Train “Laview” Debuts in March 2019,

SEIBU RAILWAY Co.,Ltd., put into service its new limited express train “Laview” on Saturday, March 16, 2019. Both the exterior and interior of the Laview train were designed by world-renowned architect Kazuyo Sejima to develop a new “never seen before train car.” As the new flagship train bearing the future of Seibu Railway, its train type is designated as the 001 Series.

Seibu Railway, which celebrated the 100th anniversary of its foundation in 2012 and the 100th anniversary of its operation in 2015, has kept coming up with innovations, including the Seibu Traveling Restaurant “52 Seats of Happiness” aboard a train with all its seats dedicated to restaurant use as well as the “40000 Series” commuter train fitted with a “Partner Zone,” which can be comfortably used by all passengers, including small children and those using baby strollers or wheelchairs. The company has developed the Laview as the new flagship train that will lead Seibu Railway on its path to the next 100 years.

The Laview’s most conspicious feature is its rounded front end while its windshield is made of three-dimensional curved glass with a curvature radius of 1,500 mm (unprecedented in Japan). Furthermore, cabin windows are furnished with large window panes, each 1,350 mm in height and 1,580 mm in width, at an equal interval, enabling passengers to enjoy a panoramic view of passing scenery. The exterior color of the car, new aluminum paint developed especially for Laview, is designed in a way to blend gently into the landscape in the city and nature. The interior, based on a warm yellow color combination, creates a soft living room-like ambience. Each seat is equipped with electrical outlets and “SEIBU FREE Wi-Fi” is available on each coach. Large 23-inch onboard video screens display information in four languages -- Japanese, English, Korean and Mandarin. They all add up to provide amenities and make every passenger feel comfortable.

Along the Seibu Railway Ikebukuro and Seibu-Chichibu lines, the Moomin Valley Park was opened at Hanno in March 2019, which helps visitors experience the world view of Moomin. Also in the Chichibu area, moss pink will come into full bloom in late April.

Seibu Railway Co., Ltd. -- which links the Tokyo hubs of Ikebukuro and Shinjuku with well-established destinations, Chichibu and Kawagoe, in Saitama Prefecture -- has been driving a campaign utilizing comic characters “Kanahei’s Small animals,” which are hugely popular in Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. These characters are drawn by a Japanese illustrator and manga artist who goes by her one-name pseudonym Kanahei.

“SEIBU KAWAGOE PASS” train tickets, can be each redeemed for a gift, one of limited-edition “Seibu Railway x Kanahei’s Small animals original designed drink bags,” if they are shown at the designated places for the swap (Hon-Kawagoe Station Tourist Information Center/Seibu Tourist Information Center Ikebukuro) during the campaign period through October 31, 2019 (*The campaign is available until the goods run out).

To commemorate the collaboration between Kanahei and Seibu Railway, the company is also running an ad-wrapped train, christened “Kanahei’s Small animals -- a relaxed Travel to Kawagoe by taking a ride on SEIBU Railway,” during a limited period until December 2019 on its Shinjuku Line, which links Shinjuku with Kawagoe.

Additionally, travelers can see an original animation video featuring two animals traveling on a train from Ikebukuro to Hon-Kawagoe, the last stop on the Seibu Shinjuku Line and the nearest station to the old castle town of Kawagoe. In the video, the animals change trains at Tokorozawa Station and enjoy sightseeing in Kawagoe.
