Pro Figure Skater Yuzuru Hanyu to Appear at Causeway Bay in Hong Kong from January 17 in Promotional Video, Showcasing Appeals of His Hometown, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture

As part of its visitor-attraction promotion, the City of Sendai will start airing video featuring the two-time Winter Olympics gold medalist and professional figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu on the Causeway Bay Russell Street Giant LED TV in Hong Kong on January 17.

Yuzuru Hanyu has served as a Sendai Tourism Ambassador since 2014, appearing in tourism guidebooks, posters and videos to promote the city domestically and abroad. In the video, he talks about his favorite places of his hometown under the theme "#ImHomeSendai" provoking the feeling of wanting to return to Sendai in both first-time visitors as well as repeat tourists.

The 30-second clip showcases five locations in Sendai, including the International Center Subway Station, home to a monument depicting a memorable scene of Hanyu’s figure-skating program, as well as the Zuihoden Mausoleum, where stunning landscape created by nature and culture can be found.

This video will be shown on the Causeway Bay Russell Street Giant LED TV from January 17 to January 30. Along with the promotion, a special website was launched on October 24 to provide additional information about the places introduced in the video. In December, Greater Bay Airlines and Hong Kong Airlines commenced regular flights to Sendai Airport. The Hong Kong Express will also launch their service in January. Sendai City hopes that visitors from Hong Kong take this opportunity to consider exploring Sendai’s tourism destinations.

As part of its visitor-attracting promotion, the City of Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture, northeastern Japan, will start airing video footage featuring two-time Winter Olympic gold medalist and professional figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu at the Ximending shopping district in Taipei on November 25.

This video will be shown at the Ximending shopping district from November 25 to December 8. Along with the promotion, a special website was launched on October 24 to provide additional information about the places introduced in the video. Daily flights to Sendai (17 services a week) are available from the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. It is hoped that Sendai’s tourism attractions will be the next destination of tourists from Taiwan.

仙台市は、「次世代放射光施設」の認知度向上と利活用促進を図るため、オンラインセミナー「放射光で広がる未来のモノづくり～「光イノベーション都市・仙台」の可能性～」を2021年12月15日（水）から公開いたします。

本セミナーは、東北大学青葉山新キャンパスで整備が進められている「次世代放射光施設」の稼働を契機としたリサーチコンプレックスの形成に向け、研究開発型企業の誘致や集積に重点的に取り組んでいる仙台市が、「次世代放射光施設」の認知度向上と利活用促進を図るため、2021年11月に開催しました。

国内随一の大型放射光施設「SPring-8」のセンター長である石川哲也氏（国立研究開発法人理化学研究所）から「放射光とは」を明るく分かりやすく話していただきました。また次世代放射光施設の整備を担う高田昌樹氏（光科学イノベーションセンター）、産学連携の手綱を握る村松淳司氏（東北大学国際放射光イノベーション・スマート研究センター）から産業界のニーズに応える「コアリションコンセプト」等についてご説明いただきました。産業界での研究活用事例を株式会社ミルボンの伊藤廉氏、産学連携によるイノベーション創出事例を東京大学の伊藤耕三氏からご講演いただきました。最後に、5者を交えたパネルディスカッションでは、今後期待されるイノベーションについて、モデレーターを努めた水越孝氏（株式会社矢野経済研究所）が経済効果にも切り込みながら、熱い議論を交えました。

本セミナーは、産業界から様々な業種の方をはじめ、金融機関、官公庁から254名の申し込みがあり、202名（アーカイブ配信を含む）の方にご視聴いただきました。
視聴後のアンケートによると、本セミナー以前に「次世代放射光施設が仙台にできること」について知らなかった方が全体の3割を占め、回答者は概ね次世代放射光施設について興味・関心を持っていただきました。

仙台市は、2021年11月18日（木）14時よりオンラインセミナー、「放射光で広がる未来のモノづくり～「光イノベーション都市・仙台」の可能性～」を開催します（参加無料※要登録）。2024年度運用開始予定の「次世代放射光施設」について分かりやすくご紹介します。
