【ソウル2012年11月12日PRN=共同JBN】オメルベニー・アンド・マイヤーズ法律事務所（O'Melveny & Myers LLP）はこのほど、韓国のソウルに同事務所16番目となるオフィスを開設する最終認可を韓国法務省から受理した。オメルベニーは、韓国主要企業と創り上げてきた輝かしい成功の歴史を基に、韓国コミュニティーでより大きな存在となれるよう成長していく。名声ある韓国弁護士であるジンウォン・パク（Jinwon Park）、スンヨン・カン（Sungyong Kang）両氏がソウルオフィスの常駐弁護士となる。ロサンゼルスオフィスのパートナーでオメルベニー韓国プラクティス責任者であるジョセフ・キム（Joseph Kim）氏が引き続き韓国プラクティスを監督し、カン、パク両氏およびヨンウォク・シン（Youngwook Shin）氏その他韓国関連マターに従事するオメルベニーの多くの弁護士と緊密に協力していく。

また、オメルベニーは、カリフォルニア州高等裁判所で、韓国半導体企業SK hynixを代理し、米テクノロジーライセンス会社Rambusが39億5000万ドル（3倍賠償として119億ドル）の賠償を求めた独占禁止法請求の審理で勝訴し、2011年における最大の被告側勝訴判決の一つを勝ち取った。さらに、オメルベニーは、サムスンと共に、日本の競合会社である村田製作所が提起した数々の特許侵害訴訟に勝利したほか、さまざまな分野における重要案件でサムスン電子を成功裏に代理している。

             Firm Receives Korean Ministry of Justice Approval

O'Melveny & Myers LLP has received final approval from the Korean Ministry of

Justice to open an office in Seoul, the Firm's 16th office worldwide. O'Melveny

will build on its highly successful history working with major Korean

corporations to become a larger fixture in the Korean community. Renowned Korea

practitioners Jinwon Park and Sungyong Kang will be residents of the Seoul

office. Los Angeles-based partner Joseph Kim, Head of O'Melveny's Korea

Practice, will continue to oversee the Korea practice and work closely with

Kang, Park, and Youngwook Shin, as well as many other O'Melveny attorneys who

work on Korea-related matters.  

O'Melveny has been actively representing Korean clients in a variety of

sectors, including antitrust and patent litigation, and has achieved a number

of recent high-profile victories in those areas. Last month, on behalf of

Asiana Airlines, O'Melveny achieved a judicial decision in the US Court of

Appeals for the Second Circuit that affirmed the dismissal of all state-law

antitrust claims on the grounds that those claims are preempted by federal

antitrust law. O'Melveny led the briefing and argued on behalf of about two

dozen airlines, including Asiana, that were accused of conspiring to fix air

cargo rates.

In addition, O'Melveny achieved one of the top US defense verdicts of 2011 for

SK hynix in California Superior Court, where the Firm tried and defeated

antitrust claims brought by Rambus seeking US$3.95 billion in damages, which

Rambus sought to treble to US$11.9 billion. O'Melveny also has worked with

Samsung, defeating a number of patent infringement lawsuits brought by a

Japanese competitor, Murata Manufacturing Co., and has been successfully

representing Samsung Electronics in a wide range of important matters.
