ホテルにとってWi-Fiはベッドを別にすればもっとも必要不可欠なサービスの一つだが、世界中のホテル宿泊客は不満のトップ3の一つに貧弱なインターネット接続をあげている。過去数十年の目覚ましい技術進歩にも関わらず、Wi-Fiがホテルのサービスの中でも最悪のものの一つなのはどういう理由によるものか。
Danmagi最高経営責任者（CEO）ダニエル・リスター氏は「ホテルが正しいソリューションまたはそれを提供する企業に投資しなければ、何年にもわたってサービスは悪いままで客の不満を聞き続けることになるのに、ホテルは同じ間違いを繰り返し、高品質で安全なWi-Fiサービスを客に提供しようという気持ちばかりで苦労している」と説明する。
同氏はさらに「モバイル機器は数や種類の面でもブームになっているが、ホテル経営者が聞かされているのは客室に多くのアクセス・ポイントを設置すれば問題は解決するということだ。しかし、現実問題としてほとんどのホテルの無線LANネットワークは立派に機能しており、多くの場合、問題は柔軟性がなく、時代後れのサービス・プロバイダーのシステムにある」と述べた。
6月24日から27日まで米ミネソタ州ミネアポリスで開催される今年のHITECではDanmagi最高経営責任者（CEO）ダニエル・リスター氏がこの問題についてさらに詳しく話をする予定になっている。同氏の講演予定は6月26日（水）午後4:15～5:15で会場はミネアポリス・コンベンションセンター。

Wi-Fi is now one of the most essential services a hotel can provide apart
from a bed, and yet poor internet connection is on the top 3 list of complaints
from hotel guests around the world. Why is it that after considerable
technological advances over the past decades, Wi-Fi is still one of the poorest
services offered by hotels today?
Daniel Lister, CEO at Danmagi, explains: "If you as a hotel do not invest
in the right solution or company, it can cause you several years of guest
complaints and poor service, and yet hotels continue to make the same mistakes
