米カリフォルニア州プレザントンにあるテュフ・ラインランド（TUV Rheinland）の研究所で行われたAllianceの第4回相互運用性テストのイベントにおいて、ベンダーとテスト装置メーカーは、Allianceが近く発表する適合性および相互運用性のテストを完全実施した。適合性テストは規格が正確に実装されたことを保証し、相互運用性テストはさまざまなベンダーの製品が正確かつ相互に通信できることを確認する。両テストは規格の実装を認定するために必須である。

さらにAllianceメンバーは、Wi-SUN PHYテスト仕様の適用性をフィールドエリアネットワーク（Field Area Network）とホームエリアネットワーク（Home Area Network）を含むユーティティーネットワークの主要エリアの根幹であると確認した。参加メンバーはWi-SUN Field Area NetworkとWi-SUN ECHONETプロファイルの追加テストを行った。両プロファイルはWi-SUN PHYと高位レベルプロトコルを仕様の一部として組み込んでいる。

Wi-SUN Alliance completes verification of interoperability specifications for Wireless Smart Utility Network Products

-- System, Chip and Test Equipment manufacturers collaborate in a fourth Wi-SUN

interoperability event.

    Today the Wi-SUN Alliance announced that it has completed verification of

its Physical Layer Conformance and Interoperability Test specifications for

Wireless Smart Utility Network devices using IEEE802.15.4g. This is the final

step in developing a certification process by which products may qualify to use

the Wi-SUN PHY logo, assuring seamless interoperable deployment for utility

networks.

    During the Alliance's fourth Interoperability Testing event, held at TUV

Rheinland labs in Pleasanton, California, vendors and test equipment

manufacturers executed the full suite of Conformance and Interoperability tests

soon to be published by the Alliance. Conformance tests assure that standards

are implemented correctly, while Interoperability tests confirm that products

from different vendors communicate with each other correctly. Both are

necessary to validate implementations of standards.

    In addition, Alliance members validated the applicability of the Wi-SUN PHY

test specifications as the foundation for key areas of utility networks,

including Field Area Networks and Home Area Networks. Participants performed

further testing of the Wi-SUN Field Area Network and Wi-SUN ECHONET profiles,

both of which incorporate the Wi-SUN PHY and higher-level protocols as part of

their specifications.

    "Completion of the PHY specification, and verification of the PHY Test

specifications, each marks a major step in establishing the Wi-SUN Alliance

certification program," said chair of the Wi-SUN Alliance, Phil Beecher. "We

are rapidly approaching the time when a 'Wi-SUN Certified' logo will provide

buyers confidence that the products in question have been formally validated to

be interoperable."
