クリントン・グローバル・イニシアチブがハルト・プライズの最終選考を開催

ニューヨークで開催されるクリントン ・ グローバル ・ イニシアチブの年次ミーティングでクリントン元大統領が優勝賞金 100 万ドルのハルト・プライズを授与

ニューヨーク/ 2013年9月17日/PRニュースワイヤ/ -- 2013年9月16日、シェラトン・ニューヨークで開催されるクリントン・グローバル・イニシアチブ（CGI）の年次ミーティングに世界的な指導者が集まる。この場に初登場するのは次世代の社会起業家たち、つまり2013年のハルト・プライズ 最終選考者である。

既に150ヵ国超、1万人以上の大学生からなる競争相手を退けてきた最終選考者26名は6チームに分かれて競争する。その課題とは？特に2億人にのぼる都市部におけるスラム居住者をはじめとする、栄養が不足する地域に食料を確保するための社会的企業を創設するというものだ。

「これは私たちにとって、次世代のエンパワメント、そして世界が抱える喫緊の課題を少しでも解決するチャンスである。毎日10億人が飢餓に瀕している中で、新たな解決法なしには食料安全保障は悪化するだろう。」とハルト・プライズの創始者兼CEOのアーマド・アシュカーは述べている。

ハルト・プライズの最終選考者が考案した解決法は、ハルト・プライズ・グローバル・ファイナルズの最終プレゼンテーションの中で発表される。この発表は4日間に及ぶCGI ミーティングの初日に行われる。

各チームを採点評価する世界レベルの審査員団メンバーは次の通り（アルファベット順）:

・スパルタ・グループのデシュ・デシュパンデ社長兼会長

・国連世界食糧計画（WFP）のアーサリン・カズン事務局長

・国連基金のキャシー・カルバン事務局長（CEO）

・ノーベル賞受賞者でグラミン銀行創業者のムハマド・ユヌス氏

・スタンダードチャータード銀行のピーター・サンズ最高経営責任者（CEO）

・Kiva の共同創業者兼社長のプレマル・シャー

・ソーラーエイドのスティーブ・アンドリュース CEO

優勝チームはシードキャピタルとしての100万米ドルおよび賞をビル・クリントン元米大統領から手渡される。

Hult Prize Finals To Be Hosted at the Clinton Global Initiative

USD1 million Hult Prize to be awarded by President Clinton at the Clinton  

            Global Initiative Annual Meeting in New York

    On September 23, 2013, global leaders will converge at the Clinton Global

Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers.

Joining them for the first time is the next generation of social entrepreneurs:

the Hult Prize ( http://www.hultprize.org/ ) finalists of 2013.

    The 26 contestants are competing in six teams and have already beaten over

10,000 college and university students from over 150 countries. The challenge?

To create a social enterprise that will secure food for undernourished

communities and particularly for those 200 million people that live in urban

slums.

    "This is our chance to empower the next generation and solve some of the

world's most pressing issues," said Ahmad Ashkar, Founder and CEO of the Hult

Prize. "Almost a billion people go hungry every day and without new solutions,

food security issues are likely to get worse."

    Solutions developed by the Hult Prize finalists will be presented during a

final pitch-off at the Hult Prize Global Finals. The event will take place on

the first day of CGI's four-day meeting.

    Teams will be scored and evaluated by an executive jury that includes (in

alphabetical order):

    -- Ertharin Cousin, Executive Director, World Food Programme

    -- Kathy Calvin, President and CEO, United Nations Foundation

    -- Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize Winner and Founder, Grameen Bank

    -- Peter Sands, Group CEO, Standard Chartered Bank

    -- Premal Shah, Co-founder and President, Kiva

    -- Steve Andrews, CEO, SolarAid

    The winning team stands to receive USD1 million in seed capital and an

award, which will be presented by former President Bill Clinton.
