Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (Tokyo:7272) on February 4 held the "Yamaha Motor sports Press Conference 2014" at the Sama-Sama Hotel in Sepang, Malaysia, to announce its motor sports activities including races to participate in and each team's structure.

While Yamaha Motor outlined this season's direction in MotoGP, the pinnacle of motorcycle road racing, riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi from Yamaha Factory Racing and riders Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro from Monster Yamaha Tech3 spoke about their ambitions for this season and their impressions of the 2014 machines at the news conference.

Yamaha Motor unveiled an initiative to energize MotoGP by developing new constructors as well as new engine leasing arrangements from this season (the first for Yamaha). Staff from Forward Racing also made a guest appearance.

Motor sports are in Yamaha's DNA. Challenging ourselves in motorsports has been an integral part of our corporate culture for over 50 years. They are also a direct embodiment of our brand slogan "Revs your Heart."

The basic direction of our activities is in the three aims: branding, technical feedback, and promotional activities, which will move our racing prowess forward on a global level.

To that end, we are upgrading our structure to achieve success in elite global races, share excitement with fans around the world, step up promotional activities, lay the groundwork in cooperation with our local group companies, and provide opportunities for developing and fostering the next generation of talent.
