＊ウェブアプリケーションファイアウォール市場に関するガートナーの定義－ウェブアプリケーションファイアウォール（WAF）市場は顧客のニーズによって定義され、インターナルおよびパブリックのウェブアプリケーションがローカル（構内）ないしはリモート（ホスティッド、クラウド、アズ・ア・サービス）のいずれかで配置されている場合、それらを防御しなければならない顧客のニーズによって定義される。WAFはウェブサーバーの前面に配置され、ハッカーの攻撃からウェブアプリケーションを防御し、ウェブアプリケーションへのアクセスを監視し、さらにコンプライアンス／オーディットと分析のためのアクセスログを記録する。WAFは徹底した検査を実行できる唯一の手段であるため、ほとんどの場合リバースプロキシーとしてインライン配置される。透過型のプロキシー、ブリッジモード、アウトオブバンド（OOB）設置のWAFなど、その他の設置モードもあるのでネットワークトラフィックのコピー上で動作する。

application firewall (WAF) market is defined by a customer's need to protect
