'SMEs link us to Japan', says Venice Mayor Brugnaro at Expo 2025 Osaka
OSAKA, Apr. 16, 2025 /ANSA=Kyodo JBN/ --
“We share many similarities with Japan— in particular in the Veneto region, where small and medium-sized enterprises are highly valued, just as they are the backbone of Japan’s industry,” declared the Mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro, in an interview with ANSA during the opening of the Italy Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, where Venice will be the city representing Italy during the event’s first week.
A choice that Brugnaro describes as “a great honor,” because “we are not only showcasing the city of Venice, but also what Venice can offer - even for the future of this planet.”
Expo represents a unique opportunity, as “we come to present and represent what we do, and we also get to learn what others are doing,” Brugnaro added, noting that “the 44 municipalities of the metropolitan city here, along with the declarations of their mayors, show not only what we’ve done, but above all what we want to achieve together - for youth, for sports, and for education.”
According to the Mayor of Venice, “there are relationships here that are very important,” and that “span all areas of culture” but also “a wide range of human activities, because above all, it’s about relationships between people - after which commercial exchanges naturally follow.”
