Investments in Lombardy announced at Italy Pavilion

-NTT Data, Nippon Gases strengthen connection with Japan-

 

OSAKA, Oct. 10, 2025/ANSA=Kyodo JBN/ --  Two meaningful new investments in the Lombardy Region were announced on Thursday, October 9 at the Italy Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka, during the event 'From Japan to Lombardy: the reasons behind a choice through the testimonies of businesses'.


The event was organized by the Region in collaboration with the Business and Made in Italy Ministry (MIMIT) and with leading Japanese companies including Daikin, Nippon Gases, Turboden, YKK and NTT Data.


And two key announcements gained attention.


NTT Data Italia, CEO Ludovico Diaz explained, will create "a new data centre in the province of Milan, a strategic infrastructure that will allow Italian companies to concretely experiment the benefits of artificial intelligence".


Diaz recalled that the company "has been operating in Lombardy for 15 years, with over 6,000 people and a turnover of 600 million euros", and that "this new investment consolidates the role of Milan and Italy as a European hub for digital innovation".


Meanwhile, Nippon Gases Italia, represented by President and CEO Eduina Marino, announced "the realization of Italy's largest filling station at Guardamiglio, in Lombardy, for the production of industrial and medical gases".


Marino stressed that the project "strengthens the company's presence in the country and represents an important step forward in a sustainable growth strategy in Europe".


"We are proud to continue investing in Lombardy, a region that concretely supports industrial development and innovation", she added.


The meeting, which was held as part of the week dedicated to Lombardy at Expo 2025 Osaka, was opened by the Commissioner General for Italy, Mario Vattani, and by the regional Councillor for Economic Development, Guido Guidesi.


Guidesi described the conference as an "extraordinary occasion to consolidate the economic and institutional relationship between Lombardy and Japan".


He recalled that "Lombardy hosts over 50% of Japanese companies present in Italy and generates 38% of their overall turnover in the country", stressing that "cooperation between the two economies is based on technological innovation, energy transition and high-quality advanced manufacturing".


During the event, Davide Amorosi, Deputy Cabinet Chief at MIMIT, illustrated the ministry's programs and reforms to help attract foreign investments in Italy, recalling how "Japanese companies represent a virtuous example of integration and growth in Italy's productive fabric".


Marco Fedato, Director of Investment and Promotion at Invest in Lombardy, highlighted that "the Region offers a competitive, innovative ecosystem" that is "open to international collaborations".


He stressed that "Invest in Lombardy is a reference point for foreign companies choosing our territory to grow and innovate".


Participants included representatives of Japanese companies such as Torboden, which is based in Brescia and part of the group Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, who illustrated the result of the synergy with its headquarters in Japan and future development plans.


CEO Paolo Bertuzzi announced the "creation of a new production unit and management offices in Brescia, starting in 2025", in line with "an industrial plan that invests on the expansion of the geothermal sector and on the electrification of industrial heat pumps".
