◎訪日ミッションで２件の投資増額確保

　　マレーシアのNCIA

【クアラルンプール（マレーシア）２６日ベルナマ＝共同JBN】マレーシアの北部コリドー実施庁（NCIA）は、２日間にわたる京都、名古屋への貿易・投資ミッションの訪問で、２件の投資増額の確約を得たと発表した。

　NCIA最高責任者のレジャ・ラフィク氏によると、うち１件は生鮮野菜・加工食品の株式会社エム・アール・ティージャパン（本社：愛知県西春日井郡）とマレーシアのJPBアジアパシフィックが、今年７月に鹿児島で合弁会社の設立契約に調印する。合弁会社はマレーシアでの業務に供するため設立される。

MRTジャパンは果物、野菜、園芸作物を取り扱う企業で、マレーシアのクアラクラ（クダ州）、アラクダ（ペナン州）の２カ所に３５００万リンギットを投じて、ロックメロン、唐辛子、日本カボチャの栽培温室を保有している。

ラフィク氏によるとMRTジャパンは今後３年間で新たに１億リンギットを投資し、日本を中心に世界的に強い需要がある同社産品を提供する。

またマレーシアのグローバル・アウトリーチ・エナジー社と、同社の日本側パートナーであるユースフルパースン社は１億７００万リンギットを追加投資し、現在８０００平方フィートである発光ダイオード（LED）の生産工場面積を２万ないし３万平方フィートに拡大する。

LED照明製品はペナンで生産されており、現在は日本にだけ輸出されているが、近くフィリピン、タイ、インドにも輸出される。

４月２３日、２４日に訪日した貿易・投資使節団の団長を務めたムクリズ・マハティール国際貿易産業相は、NCIAの努力で北部コリドー地域に投資する日本のハイテク企業が増えることを楽観している。

同相は、現在北部コリドー地域に投資しているのは農業関連企業だが、マレーシアとしては同地域へのハイテク企業の投資が増えることを希望しているとも語った。

NCIAは北部ペラク、クダ、ペルリス、ペナンの４州を統括して、昨年だけで１５３億リンギットの製造業投資を認可した。

今回の訪日ミッションでNCIAは自動車、先端セラミックス、機械・設備、エンジニアリング・サービス、エレクトロニクス、先端電子製品・部品、航空部品などの各業種で潜在的投資家を求めた。

　NCIAは、農業、製造、観光、ロジスティックスの４つを重点分野にしている北部コリドー開発地域（NCER）の方針、政策、各種計画の設定に責任を持つ国家機関。

Malaysian Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) Secures Committed Reinvestments

The Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) of Malaysia has secured

two committed reinvestments during the just-concluded two-day trade and

investment mission to Kyoto and Nagoya, Japan.

Its chief executive, Datuk Redza Rafiq, said one of the deals would be signed

between Aichi-based MRT Japan Co Ltd and Malaysian company, JPB Asia Pacific,

in July in Kagoshima.

A joint venture company would be set up to facilitate its operation in Malaysia.

MRT Japan, which is involved in marketing fruits, vegetables and horticulture,

had invested RM35 million in two green cultivation houses of rock melons,

chillies and Japanese pumpkins in Kuala Kura (Kedah) and Ara Kuda (Penang).

Datuk Redza Rafiq said the company would invest another RM100 million over

three years to cater to strong demand for its products, especially from the

Japanese, globally.

Global Outreach Energy Sdn Bhd and its Japanese partner, Useful Person Co Ltd,

would invest an additional RM107  million to expand the light-emitting diode

(LED) facility by 20,000-30,000 sq ft facility from the current 8,000 sq ft.

The LED lighting products produced in Penang, currently exported only to Japan,

will soon be exported to the Philippines, Thailand and India.

Malaysian International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Datuk Mukhriz

Mahathir, who led the trade and investment mission from April 23-24, is

optimistic the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) of Malaysia

will be able to convince more Japanese high-tech companies to invest in the

corridor.

He said there are some agriculture-based companies in the Corridor but Malaysia

hopes that more high-tech companies would invest here in Malaysia.

The NCIA, covering four states namely Northern part of Perak, Kedah, Perlis and

Penang, attracted RM15.3 billion approved manufacturing licences last year.

During the mission, NCIA was seeking potential investors in the automotive,

advanced ceramics, machinery & equipment, engineering services, electronics,

advanced electronic devices & components and aerospace components industries.

The NCIA is the statutory body responsible for setting directions, policies and

programmes for the NCER (Northern Corridor Economic Region) with four key

thrust areas, namely agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and logistics.
