イーストエッジ・リゾートは社会貢献と地域活性化を兼ねたプロジェクトを引き続き企画しています。

この度、ランフォーザキュアファンデーションとの協力の元、マラソンやウオーキングに参加して乳がん検診普及を呼びかけるイベント「ランフォーザキュア」を野沢温泉に誘致することとなりました。

主催者のランフォーザキュアファンデーションが2004年から毎年東京にて同イベントを行い、2011年には1,214人の参加者と 80人のボランティアスタッフを集めることができました。毎回、協賛企業からの商品や抽選券の販売とイベント参加費から得た収益金は活動資金とマンモグラフィー（乳房のＸ線撮影検査）搭載バスの建築貯金に充てられます。ランフォーザキュアＮＰＯ代表によると、「米国では四十歳以上の80%が年1回はマンモグラフィーを受けていますが、日本では3%。早期発見のため、自己検診重要性を理解するべきです」。

今回、イーストエッジ・リゾートは野沢温泉観光協会の協力を得て、大都市でしか行われていなかった乳がん研究や検診促進イベントを野沢温泉村に誘致し、大都市と田舎の交流や地域活性化という目的も併せ長野県内で乳がんに関する認識を向上させることを目指しています。

2012年9月29日（土）に野沢温泉で開催される「ランフォーザキュア」マラソン・ウオーキングイベントの種目は二つあります。特に、10Ｋランはハートの形で縁結びでも有名な北竜湖までの往復を野沢温泉の自然のパワーを感じながら走ります。2Ｋウオーキングは地元の方の説明を聞きながらさまざまな名所・旧跡を訪ねて野沢温泉ならではの風情を楽しんでいただけます。

参加者登録の際に外湯めぐりセットや集印帳を販売し、経費を差し引いた分は、ランフォーザキュアファンデーションに寄付される予定です。

ランフォーザキュアファンデーションは、これからも毎年野沢温泉のランフォーザキュアを開催することで長野県や近隣地域で乳がん検診の高まりや治療への支援活動を行う予定です。

EASTEDGE RESORTS brings ‘Run for the Cure’ marathon / walking event in Nozawa Onsen

EastEdge Resorts is constantly planning projects that foster social responsibility and community revitalization.

This time the new hospitality brand, in cooperation with the Run for the Cure Foundation, has managed to bring to Nozawa Onsen Village “Run for the Cure”, an event well known for its pink ribbon movement which is aimed at collecting funds for breast cancer screening and increasing awareness through participation to marathon and walking.

The organizer Run for the Cure Foundation has been holding the event in Tokyo every year since 2004 and in 2011 it managed to gather 1,214 participants and 80 volunteers. The earnings from sales of sponsor companies’ products and raffle tickets and the event participation fees go to nurture the foundation’s efforts in eradicating breast cancer through activities such as funding clinical examinations and building mammography buses. According to the NPO founder and representative, “in US the 80% of women aged over 40 are receiving mammography, in Japan only 3%. People in Japan should understand the importance of timely screening for breast cancer prevention.”

EastEdge Resorts, thanks to the cooperation Nozawa Onsen Tourism Association, has attracted the charity marathon and walking event, which so far has been held only in the metropolis or other big cities, to Nozawa Onsen Village, a picturesque mountain onsen town in the Japan Alps well known for its major ski resort and hosting the Nagano Olympics. The aim is to raise awareness of breast cancer also in the countryside of Japan and at the same time revitalize the local community through new events and exchanges with the capital.

The ‘Run for the Cure’ marathon and walking in Nozawa Onsen is going to be held on September 29, 2012 and will be featuring two courses. In particular, the 10K running course will show runners the beauty of Nozawa Onsen nature heading to the heart-shaped Hokuryu Lake. The 2K walking will be accompanied by local volunteer guides explaining the history and main sites of the village.

Next to the registration desk towel sets to visit Nozawa Onsen public hot spring baths and notes for stamp rally will be sold, with all proceeds donated to Run for the Cure Foundation.

Starting from this year, Run for the Cure Foundation plans to hold a marathon and walking event in Nozawa Onsen every year and support breast cancer examinations and treatment in Nagano Prefecture and nearby area.
