TOYOTA X STUDIO4C Presents PES (Peace Eco Smile) Animation Series at Kichijoji Anime Wonderland 2012
Toyota Motor Sales & Marketing (TMSM) is exhibiting PES (Peace Eco Smile)
produced in collaboration with Studio4C, at the "Kichijoji Anime Wonderland" on
September 29-October 8, 2012, in Kichijoji, Tokyo. PES is an original animation
series set in Kichijoji. TMSM aims to attract visitors to PES's complex world of
reality and virtual reality in PES's hometown.
Kichijoji is a western suburb of Musashino city, Tokyo. This area is famous for
"Anime pilgrimages" as there are many Japanese animation studios such as
Studio4C and Studio Ghibli. Also its location is often seen in Japanese anime
series. Kichijoji consistently is ranked top in Tokyo's most popular places to
live. The highlight of the town is the Inokashira Park, which appears in PES as
"Iinokashira Park". Kichijoji has also been known as an artists' colony.
Katsuhiro Ohtomo and many comic artists live in Kichijoji.
PES's main activities at the Kichijoji Anime Wonderland 2012:
1.Stage performance on the Inokashira outdoor stage on Oct. 6
2.Trick art painting in Harmonica Yokocho, an alley of small bars and
restaurants
3.Collaboration with 11 shops in Kichijoji to make original foods, drinks and
other products modeled on the PES mascots.
4. An exhibition of PES's beautiful artworks with various colors; original
pictures, stills etc.
PES is a story about Pes, an extraterrestrial being who comes to discover the
value of Earth and the joy of mobility through his unique alien perspectives.
ToyToyota Project: PES Concept:
Human evolution is represented by the history of mobility. Cars bring mobility
to our life, but yet too often, everyone talks about complicated technological
aspects of automobiles rather than just the joy of mobility. TOYOTA has found "
TOY" as the origin of lively and cheerful joy from its own corporate name. Then,
TOYOTA and STUDIO4C, one of the leading Japanese animation studios, have
together created an animation series, PES, that follows a curious alien
exploring the joy of driving and the importance of safety as a part of the
ToyToyota Project aimed at spreading the joy of mobility.
