【ムンバイ、ボルティモア2012年11月21日】医薬品大手のルピン社（Lupin Ltd.）は21日、子会社のルピン・ファーマシューティカルズ社（総体でルピン）が効力48mg、145mgのフェノフィブラート錠を米国で発売したと発表した。ルピンは同製品の最終承認を米食品医薬品局（FDA）からすでに受けている。

ルピンのフェノフィブラート錠剤はAbbott社のTRICOR（登録商標）錠剤のAB格付けのジェネリック版であり、原発性高コレステロール血症、混合型脂質異常症、重症の高トリグリセライド血症向けに処方されている。Abbottの48mg、145mgのTRICOR錠剤は、2012年6月のIMSヘルスによれば、売上高は12億6000万ドルだった。

この承認についてルピン・ファーマシューティカルズ社の最高経営責任者（CEO）でルピン社のグループ社長であるビニタ・グプタ氏は「この製品を米国で市場に出せるのは大変うれしい。患者は慣れ親しんでいるのと同じ質の高い製品をより手ごろな価格で受け取れることが保証される」とコメントしている。

Lupin Launches Generic TRICOR(R) Tablets

    Pharma major, Lupin Ltd., announced today that its subsidiary, Lupin

Pharmaceuticals Inc. (collectively, Lupin) has launched its Fenofibrate

Tablets, 48 mg and 145 mg strengths in the United States. Lupin had earlier

received final approval for the same from the US Food and Drug Administration

(FDA).

    Lupin's Fenofibrate tablets are the AB rated generic equivalent of Abbott's

TRICOR(R) tablets and are indicated for Primary Hypercholesterolemia or Mixed

Dyslipidemia and Severe Hypertriglyceridemia. Abbott's TRICOR(R) Tablets, 48 mg

and 145 mg had sales of USD 1.26 billion as per IMS Health, June, 2012.
