Tokyo -- Waseda University released the "WASEDAnce Animated Campus Tour," a watercolor-style rotoscope animation by leading pop artist ShiShi Yamazaki. With its unique, fluttery touch, this unique animated campus tour allows those who have never visited to experience Waseda's features, and those who know it to see Waseda from a new angle. In just one minute, this pop video with catchy music by ALTZ illustrates campus landmarks such as Okuma Auditorium, the Tsubouchi Memorial Theatre Museum, and the Aizu Museum.
Comment from the video's creator, ShiShi Yamazaki
"I created this animation based on video clips of me actually dancing around different locations on campus. The splendid ambiance of the Waseda campus, a cultural powerhouse, and the magical enchantment of wearing a sailor-style school uniform gave me the courage to suavely sway around while filming. If I could only have spent my college years here... I would like to dedicate this video to all viewers with such warm, fuzzy feelings."
About ShiShi Yamazaki
ShiShi Yamazaki developed her skill in hand-drawing rotoscope animation while exploring painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, printmaking, and installation art as well as fashion and product design. Her famous works include "YA-NE-SEN a Go Go" and "Yamasuki, Yamazaki." She has been working on her long-term project [Mask], in which she creates a different face mask every day. She has become an established artist by using herself as a motif and showing her work at art animation and creative events around the world. Her work has appeared in commercials for brands such as Prada and Shiseido. Last year, Yamazaki became known to the general public when her animated music video was shown nationally on NHK TV's "2015 Kohaku Uta Gassen," the iconic, year-end countdown music program.
