１２年生（３歳の幼稚園児から高校３年生まで）のすべてが申し込みできるようにするため、教師や教育者は無料のオンライン・コミュニティー「スカイプ・イン・ザ・クラスルーム（Skype in the Classroom）」の新しい会員もしくは既存の会員でなければならない。同コミュニティーは。学生たちの体験を豊富にするためスカイプを利用する２万８０００人余りの登録済み教師を支援している。

　＊学級で現在スカイプを利用中もしくは利用することになる状況について１５０語以内で記載する。

教師は「スカイプ・イン・ザ・クラスルーム」のフェイスブック・ページ（http://bit.ly/JtFFvF）で１１日から５月２４日午後１１時５９分（米東部夏時間）まで登録することができ、その後５人の資格獲得者が無作為に選出される。資格獲得者は５月２９日（火曜日）午後２時（米東部夏時間）に電子メールで通知され、翌日公表される。資格を得た有名人とのビデオ電話は、６月６日（水曜日）午前１０時から午後１時（米東部夏時間）の間、もしくは有名人の判断する時間に開催される。
