自転車のエムバッハーコレクションが5月19日にオークション

【ウィーン2015年5月6日PRN＝共同通信JBN】200台を超えるビンテージ自転車のエムバッハーコレクション（Embacher Collection）は世界でも類を見ない、心を躍らせる著名なアンティーク自転車のコレクションである。そのコレクションが2015年5月19日にウィーンのドロセウム・オークションハウスで競売にかけられる運びになった。コレクションはウィーンの建築家、ミヒャエル・エムバッハー氏がデザインの観点で収集したものである。時代的には1930年代から現在までをカバーしている。コレクションにはビアンキ、ケートケ（Koethke）、モールトン、コルナゴ、ロータス、BMW、フランチェスコ・モーゼルを始めとするさまざまなブランド品が含まれている。オークションでは例えば1937年にジャック・シュルツ氏がデザインしたフニクロ・バイクが含まれる。このモデルは現在世界に3台しか残されていない。ドロセウムのオークションに出品されるのは今でも乗ることができる最後の1台だ。同じような逸品はイタリア製のスクートバイクで、折りたたんで取っ手付きのスーツケースに変身する。ドイツのケートケ製タンデム（2人乗り）は素晴らしい品質を保っており、1948年にケルンで製造されたフレームは数々の国際的レースで世界最高のプロフェッショナル・サイクリストが乗った。オークションに出品される自転車はすべて乗ることができる。それぞれのバイクのスタート価格は100ユーロから7000ユーロになっている。

「エムバッハーコレクション」は世界に類がなく、これまで米オレゴン州ポートランド（ポートランド・アート・ミュージアム）、イスラエル・テルアビブ（ホロン・デザインミュージアム）、ウィーン（Museum Quarter and Museum of Applied Arts）などで展示されてきた。特別製のオークションカタログは、カラー愛好家に刺激を受けて11色でアレンジされている。カタログでは、自転車が保存されていた場所、エムバッハー氏の屋根裏部屋と同じように、自転車をカラーに従って分類している。

ドロセウムは1707年に創業された世界で最古、ドイツ語圏で最大のオークションハウスである。

The Embacher Collection made up of over 200 vintage bicycle models is one of

the most significant and exciting bicycle collections in the world. It will be

auctioned in the Dorotheum auction house in Vienna on 19 May 2015.

The collection was assembled by Viennese architect Michael Embacher, with an

eye to design. The timeframe covers two-wheelers from the thirties up to the

present day. The items in the collection include brands such as Bianchi,

Kothke, Moulton, Colnagho, Lotus, BMW, Franceso Moser and many more.

For example, the auction will include the Funiculo bicycle designed by Jacques

Schulz in 1937. There are only three of them left worldwide; the one up for

auction in the Dorotheum is the only still rideable example. Similarly

exclusive is the Italian Skoot bike, which can be converted into suitcase form,

including carrying handle. The German Kothke tandem from 1948 is of such

outstanding quality that the frame produced in Cologne was ridden in

international races by the world's best professional cyclists. All the items in

the auction are ready to ride. The starting prices of the individual bicycles

range from 100 to 7,000 euros.

"The Embacher Collection" is unique in the world and has been exhibited in

Portland (Portland Art Museum, Oregon/USA), Tel Aviv (Design Museum,

Holon/Israel) and in Vienna (Museum Quarter and Museum of Applied Arts).

The extraordinary auction catalogue, inspired by colour fans, is arranged into

eleven colours. In it, the bicycles are sorted according to colour, as they

were in their original storage location - the collector's attic.

The Dorotheum, established in 1707, is the world's oldest auction house and the

largest in the German-speaking world.
