チューリヒとヴィンタートゥールで6月3日から12日まで開催される第14回ゲザ・アンダ国際ピアノコンクール（Concours Geza Anda）は、今年はチューリヒ・フェスティバル（チューリヒ芸術祭）の一環として開かれる。国際的に著名なアーティストらが審査員団を構成し、ドイツのピアニスト兼指揮者クリスティアン・ツァハリアス氏が審査委員長を務める。審査評議には、ピアニストのアンドレア・ボナッタ（イタリア）、ペーター・ラング（オーストリア）、ロバート・レヴィン教授（米国）、アレクサンダー・マジャール（セルビア）、アレクセイ・ヴォロディン（ロシア）の各氏とMDRのプログラムディレクター、ナタリー・ワプラー氏（スイス）が加わる。

このコンクールに参加するために23カ国から120人のピアニストがオーディションを受けた。提出された演奏ビデオを吟味した結果、このうち40人がチューリヒで行なわれるファーストラウンドへの参加を認められた。40人の出身国は、アルメニア、中国、ドイツ、英国、エストニア、イタリア、日本、ノルウェー、オーストリア、ロシア、スペイン、韓国、ウクライナ、ハンガリー、米国と多様だ。

ハンガリー系スイス人ピアニストのゲザ・アンダの未亡人ホルテンス・アンダビュルレ氏が亡き夫を記念して1979年にチューリヒでこのコンクールを設立した。過去39年間にわたり、同コンクールは国際的なピアノの分野で最も挑戦的なコンクールの1つとして地位を確立した。長年にわたり築かれたネットワークとパートナーシップのおかげで、2018年のコンクール受賞者らは総計7万スイスフランの賞金だけでなく、受賞の一環として多くのコンサート出演を期待することができる。若手ピアニストらが職業的に成長することができ、そのキャリアを慎重に育む機会を与えられるべきだということが、ホルテンス・アンダビュルレ氏にとって特に重要であった。デーネッシュ・ヴァーリョン、ピエトロ・デ・マリア、アレクセイ・ヴォロディン、バルバラ・ネポニャシチャヤ、ダソル・キム、アンドリュー・タイソン各氏ら過去のゲザ・アンダ賞受賞者は、チューリヒでの成功をフォローアップし、世界中のコンサートホールで演奏を披露してきたほか、主要な音楽院で重要な教授職の地位を占めている。

コンクールの4つのラウンドはすべて公開される。6人のセミファイナリストは、ヴィンタートゥールのシュタットハウスで2018年6月9、10日の週末に行われるモーツァルト・ラウンドで、テオドール・グシュルバウアー指揮のヴィンタートゥール・ムジークコレギウム管弦楽団とともに演奏を披露する。決勝コンサートと授賞式は、2018年6月12日（火曜日）午後7時からチューリヒのTonhalle-Maagで開かれ、3人のファイナリストはクリスティアン・ツァハリアス指揮のチューリヒ・トーンハレ管弦楽団と共演する。ファイナリストらは、ベートーベン、シューマン、ショパン、リスト、チャイコフスキーおよびバルトークの作品から選んだピアノ協奏曲を演奏する。

コンクールは第2ラウンド（6月6日）以降、インターネットでライブビデオストリームを視聴できる。スイスのRadio SRF2が決勝コンサートを録音し、ライブ放送する予定。

Zurich Festival: The 2018 Concours Geza Anda - A Challenge and an Opportunity for Exceptional Young Pianists

The 14th Concours Geza Anda, to be held from 3 to 12 June 2018 in Zurich and

Winterthur, will this year be held as part of the Zurich Festival.

Internationally renowned artists will make up the Jury, which will be chaired

by the German pianist and conductor Christian Zacharias. He will be joined in

his deliberations by the pianists Andrea Bonatta (I), Peter Lang (A), Prof. Dr

Robert Levin (USA), Aleksander Madzar (SER) and Alexei Volodin (RUS), and by

Nathalie Wappler (CH), Programme Director of MDR.

120 pianists from 23 countries auditioned to participate in the Concours. After

consulting their video submissions, 40 of them were invited to take part in the

First Round in Zurich. They come from countries as diverse as Armenia, China,

Germany, England, Estonia, Italy, Japan, Norway, Austria, Russia, Spain, South

Korea, Ukraine, Hungary and the USA.

Hortense Anda-Bührle, the widow of the Hungarian-Swiss pianist Geza Anda,

founded the Concours in Zurich in 1979, in memory of her husband. Over the

course of the past 39 years, the Concours has established itself as one of the

most challenging competitions on the international piano scene. Thanks to its

long-established network and partnerships, the 2018 prize winners can expect

not just money prizes to the tune of CHF 70,000.-, but also numerous concert

engagements as part of their prize. It was especially important to Hortense

Anda-Bührle that young pianists should be enabled to grow into their

profession, and be given the opportunity to nurture their career carefully.

Former Geza Anda prize winners - such as Denes Varjon, Pietro De Maria, Alexei

Volodin, Varvara Nepomnyashchaya, Dasol Kim and Andrew Tyson - have followed up

their success in Zurich with performances in concert halls all over the world,

and they also hold important teaching positions at leading conservatories.

All four rounds of the Concours are open to the public. The six semi-finalists

will perform in the Mozart Round on the weekend of 9/10 June 2018 in the

Stadthaus in Winterthur, accompanied by the Musikkollegium Winterthur under the

direction of Theodor Guschlbauer. The Final Concert and Award Ceremony will be

held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday 12 June 2018 in the Tonhalle-Maag in Zurich, where

the three finalists will be accompanied by the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra

conducted by Christian Zacharias. They will perform piano concertos chosen from

works by Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin, Liszt, Tchaikovsky and Bartók.

The Concours can be watched as a live video stream on the Internet from the

Second Round onwards (6 June). Swiss Radio SRF2 will record the Final Concert

and broadcast it live.
