◎新たにパートナー４人を指名　　スクワイヤ・サンダース法律事務所

【北京、上海、香港８日PRN＝共同JBN】大手国際法律事務所スクワイヤ・サンダース（Squire Sanders）はこのほど、新しいパートナー４人を加えアジアにおけるプレゼンスを引き続き強化している。ジェニー・リュー（Jenny Liu）、シュトン・ニー（Xudong Ni）の両氏は北京、上海オフィスで法律実務に加わり、シン・キウ・グ（Sin Kiu Ng）、カム・W・ロー（Kam W. Law）の両氏が香港オフィスに加わった。今回のスクワイヤ・サンダースの中国オフィスの拡大は、スクワイヤ・サンダースのシンガポール・オフィス開設発表のわずか数週間後に行われ、この地域全体で活動するクライアントへのコミットメントを表している。

ジェニー・リュー、シュトン・ニー、シン・キウ・グの３氏は企業弁護士で、カム・W・ロー氏は知的財産・特許法律家である。

＊ジェニー・リュー氏の実務は主として、大部分が外国の管理下にある投資ファンドのために中国におけるプライベート・エクイティ、ベンチャーキャピタル投資に焦点を当てたものとなる。同氏はまた、金融、国際的取引を含め企業と商用事業の広範な分野で中国の民間企業を代表する。

＊シュトン・ニー氏は、国際的な合弁・買収、中国の規制問題、外国からの直接投資、外国への直接投資、銀行業務・金融法問題および紛争解決に関する助言で幅広い経験をしている。また同氏は航空、航空宇宙産業セクターについても専門知識を有する。

＊カム・W・ロー氏は、法律事務所での広大な経験に加え、米国の3M、サムスンを含むさまざまな多国籍企業に在籍した経験がある。米国と香港で登録された特許弁理士であり、事務弁護士である同氏は、世界の化学品、薬剤、バイオ技術・再生可能エネルギー産業を含むフォーチュン５００社のため特許申請を扱った一連の経歴を持っており、特に中国、アジア太平洋地域、米国、カナダ、ブラジル、メキシコ、欧州、ロシアにわたる専門知識を有している。彼は、世界の違反行為、特許訴訟、ライセンス問題でクライアントを代表してきた。

スクワイヤ・サンダースのアジア統括コーディネーターである黒須賢氏は「新しいパートナーは、当事務所のアジアにおける有能なプラットフォームを強化することになる。彼らが加わることは、この地域のクライアントに対する当事務所のコミットメントを反映する物であり、クライアントのニーズをサポートすることで戦略的成長を追求するという我々の計画へのコミットメントを反映している」と語った。

今回のパートナー指名は、スクワイヤ・サンダースのアジア太平洋地域における１２４人の法律家基盤の上に行われ、マオ・タン、ピーター・チョウ両氏の香港オフィス参加と今月初めに開設されたシンガポール・オフィスでグローバル法律実務に参加したイグナシアス・ハン氏に続く人事である。スクワイヤ・サンダースはまた最近、韓国法務省に対してソウル市にオフィスを開設する申請を行っている。

Global legal practice Squire Sanders continues to boost its presence in Asia

with the addition of four new partners. Jenny Liu and Xudong Ni have joined the

legal practice's Beijing and Shanghai offices, and Sin Kiu Ng and Kam W. Law

have joined the Hong Kong office. The expansion of Squire Sanders' China

offices comes only weeks after the announcement of the firm's Singapore office

opening, demonstrating its commitment to clients operating across the region.

Jenny Liu, Xudong Ni and Sin Kiu Ng are corporate lawyers and Kam W. Law is an

intellectual property and patent attorney.

-- Jenny Liu's practice focuses primarily on private equity and venture capital

investment work in China, mostly on behalf of foreign-controlled investment

funds. She also represents private Chinese companies on a broad range of

corporate and commercial work, including financing and international

transactions.  

-- Xudong Ni has extensive experience advising on cross-border mergers and

acquisitions, China regulatory matters, in-bound and outbound foreign direct

investments, banking and finance law issues, and dispute resolution. Xudong has

expertise within the aviation and aerospace industry sector.  

-- Sin Kiu Ng has wide ranging corporate experience. She has completed more

than 40 Initial Public Offerings of securities on the Main Board and Growth

Enterprise Market of HKSE. She also has considerable M&A and venture capital

experience.  

-- Kam W. Law, in addition to extensive experience with law firms, has held

in-house positions with various multi-nationals, including 3M and Samsung

Electronics in the US. A registered US patent attorney and qualified solicitor

in the US and Hong Kong, Kam has a track record of handling patent applications

for Fortune 500 companies in the chemicals, pharmaceuticals, biotechnological

and renewable energy industries worldwide, with particular expertise across

China and the Asia Pacific region, the US, Canada, Brazil and Mexico, Europe

and Russia. He has represented clients in infringement actions, patent

litigation and licensing matters across the world.

Squire Sanders Asia practice coordinator. "Their appointments reflect our

commitment to clients operating within the region and our plan to pursue

strategic growth in support of their needs."

William Downs, global practice group leader for Corporate and Corporate

markets and their experience strengthens our ability to offer comprehensive

Commenting on Kam W. Law's appointment, David Elkins, global practice group

the life and health science technologies sector is a natural fit with our

existing global practice. Kam also brings significant experience in providing

These appointments build on Squire Sanders' base of 124 lawyers in the Asia

Pacific region and follow the arrival of partners Mao Tong and Peter Chow in

Hong Kong and Ignatius Hwang, who joined the global legal practice to launch an

office in Singapore which opened earlier this month. Squire Sanders has also

recently applied to the Korean Ministry of Justice to open an office in Seoul,

Korea.
