【ストックホルム2012年6月13日PRN＝共同JBN】世界的な食品、飲料会社のペプシコ（PepsiCo）は2012年ストックホルム産業水大賞の受賞者に選ばれた。ペプシコは製造における水消費の削減に成功し、同社自体の事業活動を超えてそのコミット拡大して幅広いスケールで水問題の解決を助けている。

ストックホルム産業水大賞の審査委員会は水効率を向上させるペプシコの努力を認めた。

同社は水を節約する設備と技術、創造的なリサイクルと再利用の活用を通じ、また製造施設全体への水管理システム配備によって2006年の基準線に比べ2011年には約160億リットルを節約した。

－ペプシコは自社の事業活動に高い標準を設定し、それを達成し、責任ある水の使用がよきビジネスセンスをつくることを示していると審査員会は述べている。

ペプシコの水コミットは工場の外にも広がっている。農民のより水効率のよい穀物生産を支援し、よりよい農業実践行動と灌漑技術を実行することによって、また流域管理計画をサポートすることによって、ペプシコはその農業供給チェーン全体で水を節約してきた。2009年にペプシコは水に人間的権利を認め、公式に採用した世界で最初の企業の一つとなった。同社は世界各地で安全な水と下水道サービスへのアクセスを増やす多くの官民提携、協力関係を樹立した。

ストックホルム産業水大賞は持続可能な水管理へのビジネス分野の貢献をたたえるものである。製造プロセスのパフォーマンス改善、新製品、管理、それに世界の水の状況の改善を助ける水、廃水処理技術における革新的なアプローチを称讃するものである。この大賞は2000年にストックホルム国際水研究所（Stockholm International Water Institute）がスウェーデン工学会、持続可能な開発のための世界ビジネス評議会と協力して開設した。来年の受賞者の推薦は2012年11月1日まで受け付ける。http://www.siwi.org/siwa

PepsiCo Wins the 2012 Stockholm Industry Water Award

     The global food and beverage company PepsiCo has been named the recipient

of the 2012 Stockholm Industry Water Award. PepsiCo has successfully reduced

water consumption in its production, and extended its commitment beyond the

company's own operations to help solve water challenges on a broad scale.

    The Stockholm Industry Water Award jury recognised PepsiCo's efforts to

increase water efficiency.

    The company conserved nearly 16 billion litres of water in 2011, from a

2006 baseline, through the application of water saving equipment and

technologies, creative recycling and re-use, and by deploying a water

management system throughout its manufacturing facilities.

    - PepsiCo has set and achieved a high standard for its own operations, and

has demonstrated that responsible water use makes good business sense, the jury

said.

    PepsiCo's water commitment has not stopped at the factory walls. By

assisting farmers in growing more water efficient crops, implementing better

agricultural practices and irrigation techniques, and by supporting watershed

management initiatives, PepsiCo has saved water all along its agricultural

supply chain. In 2009, PepsiCo was among the first large companies in the world

to recognise and to formally adopt the human right to water. The company has

established numerous public-private partnerships and collaborations, which have

increased access to safe water and sanitation services around the globe.

    PepsiCo will receive the Stockholm Industry Water Award on August 28 at a

ceremony during the World Water Week in Stockholm.

    About the Stockholm Industry Water Award

    The Stockholm Industry Water Award honours the business sector's

contribution to sustainable water management. It recognises improved

performance in production processes, new products, and management, as well as

innovative approaches in water and wastewater process technologies which

together help to improve the world water situation. The Award was established

in 2000 by the Stockholm International Water Institute in collaboration with

the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and the World Business

Council for Sustainable Development. Nominations for next year's Award are
