Coordinator for President Obama and Senior Japanese Government Officials

(ISC)2 (R) ("ISC-squared"), the world's largest not-for-profit information

security professional body and administrators of the CISSP(R)(

http://www.isc2.org/cissp ), today recognized three distinguished information

security initiatives led by outstanding honorees at its sixth annual

Asia-Pacific Information Security Leadership Achievements (ISLA(TM)) Program

Gala Dinner and Ceremony. The ISLA Program is held annually by (ISC)2 in

cooperation with the (ISC)2 Asian Advisory Board to recognize outstanding

leadership and achievements in workforce improvement of information security

and management professionals in the Asia-Pacific region.

The distinguished workforce initiatives showcased this year were:

-- Information Security Practitioner Category Showcased Honoree:

Nipon Nachin, CISSP, CSSLP, SSCP, professional service director,

ACIS Professional Center Co., Ltd., Thailand. The recent

information security problems in Thailand occur not only at the

network or OS level, but also at the application and database

level, according to Nipon. With a goal of developing an

information security architecture to subsequently enhance the

information security levels of companies and the state, Nipon

created an awareness program and published a secure software

development methodology in Thailand. Nipon is commended for his

determination to rectify the root of information security

problems at the application and data level in his awareness

project. "I am very proud to be honored and would like to thank

(ISC)2 for building a solid organization that provides the

forefront of knowledge and awareness on global information

security. I hope to have further opportunities to spread

security knowledge to every part of Thailand," said Nipon.

-- Managerial Professional for an Information Security Project

Category Showcased Honoree: Chella Namasivayam, chief

information officer, iGATE Global Solutions Ltd., India. As CIO

of the company, Chella Namasivayam spearheaded a project that

encompasses the integration of the sovereign Information

Security Management Systems (ISMS) of the company. It also

included unification of policies, procedures and methodologies,

vendor management, security teams, standardization of security

tools, and automation of processes. Chella Namasivayam gives the

utmost importance to information security functions and budgets

for focused reviews around security metrics and overall

information security functionality performance. "I am greatly

honored to have been chosen for this prestigious recognition,"

said Chella Namasivayam. "It is a testimony to the collaboration

and determination of my team, who helped to make this possible.

I am delighted that the hard work put in for this integration

has been well recognized through the Asia-Pacific ISLA program."

-- Senior Information Security Professional Category Showcased

Honoree: Khawaja Faisal Javed, CISSP-ISSAP, ISSMP, CBCP, manager

of operations and ICT products, SGS Pakistan (Pvt.) Limited.

Khawaja has designed and conducted several certification courses

on information security and related topics, training

approximately 2,000 professionals from over 300 organizations

worldwide. Outside of his job responsibilities, he has dedicated

his time to serving the security community through voluntary

research. Khawaja is a member of the first release of an

Information Security Management System Auditing Guideline

Standard - ISO 27007. "I have a passion for information security

and wanted to achieve high standards not only for myself, but

also for community. Although this project involved a lot of

traveling away from my family, I gained a great deal of

       professional satisfaction," said Khawaja.

-- Community Service Star 2012: Chuan Wei Hoo, CISSP, CISA,

information security officer, BT Singapore PTE Limited. In

addition to his regular job responsibilities, Chuan Wei has been

serving the Singapore standards community for the last 10 years

as a volunteer and is currently a member of the Security &

Privacy Standards Technical Committee (SPSTC), researching and

reviewing ISO working papers for network and application

security. "Through my experience working for the standards

committee, I've gained insight into what other countries and

experts are doing to establish an information security baseline

for their economies. I have also learned that different

perspectives from various industries create an environment more

conducive to a holistic outcome," said Chuan Wei Hoo.

The Special Guest, vice president of the Republic of the Philippines, Honorable

Jejomar C. Binay; Honorable Prof. Howard Schmidt, CISSP, CSSLP, former

cybersecurity coordinator for the United States of America, other guests of
