DAFZA Holds Series of Seminars to Attract More Japanese Investments into UAE



    - Japanese companies comprise 39 per cent of Far East businesses at DAFZA

    Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZA) successfully held a series of
seminars in Tokyo and Osaka highlighting Dubai's key position as a gateway to
the Middle East and the Freezone's potentials for Japanese enterprises. The
seminars, which took place at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo and at the ANA Crowne
Plaza, Osaka, were supported by leading Japanese chambers of commerce, Tokyo
and Osaka Chambers.

    The visit was organized in cooperation with the Japan External Trade
Organization (JETRO), the Japan Cooperation Centre for the Middle East (JCCME).
The seminars were aimed at showing business opportunities that Japanese
businesses can avail in the Middle East region, particularly in Dubai, which is
recognized as a stable business hub for other regions. The visit also looked
towards positioning DAFZA as a perfect business platform for Japanese companies
wishing to mark their presence in the Middle East.

    Toyota Motor Corp, the automotive subsidiary of Toyota Group
[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Group ], one of the largest conglomerates
in the world, shared successful experiences with DAFZA during the seminars.
Leading Japanese companies like Sumitomo, Toshiba and Kawasaki, currently
account for 39 per cent of all Far East businesses at DAFZA.

    Diplomatic and business luminaries present during the seminars included
Taku Miyazaki, Deputy Director, JETRO; Jamal Bin Marghoob, Director of Marketing
