Last year at Mobile World Congress 2014, Sunpartner Technologies, the French

specialist in innovative solar solutions, unveiled the world's first

photovoltaic LiFi receiver: Wysips(R)Connect. Today, the company is developing

this ground-breaking technology with CEA-Leti, a French public research

institute.

To further optimize the receiver's capacity, a 12-month, international

development program will be launched in early 2015 with the one of the fastest

Wysips(R) Connect is currently the only LiFi technology in existence that

Wysips(R) Connect: Game-changing Photovoltaic LiFi

Recently, LiFi has captured the attention of the largest smartphone

manufacturers such as ALCATEL ONETOUCH. In fact, Sunpartner is the first and

only company to date that has succeeded in making a photovoltaic receiver able

to receive all types of LiFi signals. This receiver is essential for converting

the visible light waves produced by LEDs into electronic signals. This signal

is then decoded into an audio, text or video file on connected devices (such as

mobile phones, tablets, sensors, electronic shelf tags, and smartwatches).

Totally unique, this photovoltaic component is ultra-thin and transparent. It

is integrated during manufacturing between the screen and the touchscreen layer

of a mobile phone, tablet, or other device.

A Promising International Research Program

The year-long joint research program with ALCATEL ONETOUCH will enable

Sunpartner Technologies to offer new video playback features from mobile

devices over LiFi.

The first phase will take advantage of the expertise and facilities of

CEA-Leti, which specializes in micro- and nano-technologies applied to wireless

communication systems and components, in order to characterize the Wysips(R)

Connect component and increase its data transfer speed.

The goal: enable users to stream and watch compressed, high-definition playback

of any video over a LiFi connection. This feature is of particular interest for

ALCATEL ONETOUCH, who cares about end users' experience and strives to bring

the best technology to the mass market.

With this program, Sunpartner Technologies positions itself at the forefront of

creating the LiFi Internet. In 2 to 3 years, LiFi networks will free up

companies' crowded Wi-Fi networks, and LiFi will be introduced in hospitals,

sensitive sites like nuclear power plants, aircraft fleets, and shopping

centers for a start.
