【チューリヒ（スイス）2017年7月6日PR Newswire＝共同通信JBN】新・世界七不思議（New 7 Wonders of the World）を2007年7月7日（07.07.07）正式発表したことを記念し、新たな国際記念日が宣言された。「新・世界七不思議」財団創設者のバーナード・ウェーバー氏は「今年の7月7日（07.07）から毎年、世界は七不思議の日を祝うことになる」と述べた。

1億を超える票が投じられた結果、2007年7月7日、ポルトガル・リスボンで新・世界七不思議が公式に選定された。発表は地理的順序で行われた。

2011年に新・世界七不思議自然部門（New 7 Wonders of Nature）および2014年に新・世界七不思議都市部門（New7Wonders Cities）がさらに5億5000万票を集めて選出されたことにより、七不思議の定義は拡大した。

「新・世界七不思議」財団のジャンポール・デ・ラ・フエンテ理事長は「これまでのところ、新・世界七不思議はこのキャンペーンに参加した地域にとって、経済、旅行、国家のプロモーションの側面で50億米ドル超相当の価値を創出してきた」と語った。同氏は2007年7月7日以来10年間で世界中の人々の生活は直接的に豊かになっていると指摘し「これは、大衆によるバーチャルなオンライン力学に基づく概念が具体的な経済効果を創出するという、重要な世界規模の証左である」と述べた。

9月21日の国際平和デー（World Peace Day）以降、すべての大陸からあらゆる文化的・民族的・芸術的背景を持つ人々にそれぞれの提言をモバイル端末で提出してもらう。目的は、平和に最もふさわしい象徴の中から最も人気のある7つを選出することである。

     To celebrate the Official Declaration of the New 7 Wonders of the World on

07.07.07, a new international day has been declared. "On 7 July (07.07) this

year, and every year, the world shall celebrate 7 Wonders Day," says Bernard

    After more than 100 million votes had been cast, the New7Wonders were

officially declared on 07.07.07 in Lisbon, Portugal. They were announced in

geographical order:

- The Great Wall

- The Taj Mahal

- Petra

- The Colosseum

- Chichen Itza

- Cristo Redentor

- Machu Picchu

    The canon of 7 was expanded by the election of the New 7 Wonders of Nature

in 2011 and the New7Wonders Cities in 2014, with the casting of an additional

550 million votes.
