中国の大手オンライン食品配送サービスおよび地域サービスプラットフォームで、アリババグループ（Alibaba Group、NYSE: BABA）が主要株主であるEle.meは24日、インターネット検索企業のバイドゥ（Baidu Inc.、NASDAQ: BIDU）の食品配送部門であるBaidu Deliveriesとの合併を発表した。

今回の合併は、中国のトップ技術企業2社同士の強力な提携関係を構築するものである。アリババとバイドゥは、Ele.meとBaidu Deliveriesのプラットフォームに、技術、顧客獲得、食品安全性の面でのサポートを提供する。さらにアリババはEle.meの積極的な成長戦略を支援するため追加資本の提供を約束した。

この合併を通じ、Ele.meは食品やその他の商品・サービスが消費者の元に配達される手段の将来の姿を形作るため、中国のオンライン食品配送業界における統合を推進していく。このプラットフォームは、2000以上の都市で130万以上の流通業者と協力して事業を展開しており、規模の面での大きな利点を享受している。

Baidu Deliveriesは現在の経営陣を維持しながら、引き続き独立のブランドとして事業を展開していく。Baidu Deliveriesは3年間の事業展開で300都市に達し、100万人の流通業者を1億人以上のユーザーと結び付けている。

Deal creates formidable partnership in China's booming O2O market

Ele.me, a leading online food delivery service and local services platform in

China, in which Alibaba Group (NYSE: BABA) is a key shareholder, announced

today its merger with Baidu Deliveries, the food delivery arm of internet

search firm Baidu Inc. (NASDAQ: BIDU).

The deal forges a formidable partnership between two of China's top technology

companies. Both Alibaba and Baidu will provide the Ele.me and Baidu Deliveries

platforms with support in technology, customer acquisition, and food safety. In

addition, Alibaba has committed additional capital to support Ele.me's

aggressive growth strategies.

Through this merger, Ele.me is driving consolidation in the online food

delivery industry in China to shape the future of how food and other goods and

services are delivered to consumers. The platform enjoys significant advantages

in terms of scale from its operations in over 2,000 cities collaborating with

more than 1.3 million merchants.

Baidu Deliveries will continue to operate as an independent brand while

retaining its existing management team. Baidu Deliveries, in three years of

operation, has managed to reach 300 cities, connecting one million merchants

with over 100 million users.

The partnership brings together respective strengths of the two platforms to

provide users with an even higher level of service, raising the bar for the

entire food delivery industry. As part of the deal, Ele.me will contribute data

and resources to improve the experience of Baidu Deliveries users.
