▽セーフティーネットは常時作動

Nexteerの最高技術責任者（CTO）、最高セキュリティー責任者（CSO）、グローバルエンジニアリング担当副社長を兼務するフランク・ルビシャー氏は「自動車業界が多様なレベルの自動化に進む中、当社EPSシステムの冗長性は飛行システムと同様に重要な安全・バックアップ機能を果たしている。Nexteerのステアリング・セーフティーネットは常時作動している」と語った。

▽高可用EPSがSbW移行を支援

ルビシャー氏は「OEM各社は高可用EPSへの投資を続けており、ステアバイワイヤ（SbW）移行は費用効率がよくなっている。一方、当社の広範な高可用EPSポートフォリオで各種パッケージング環境をサポートする柔軟性を通じて、SbW移行の簡便化が可能になっている。OEMは現在、将来のSbW移行を想定して、当社の高可用EPSを利用すれば、多くの投資と車台の再設計を節約することができる」と述べた。

SbWは衝突防止、安全制御など先進的な安全機能に新たな可能性を開く。先進的な安全機能は、さらに高い安全水準を達成するため、ステアリングシステム単独かブレーキシステムと組み合わせて実装できる。ルビシャー氏はこの点について、NexteerとContinentalの合弁企業、CNXMotionがNexteerの先進ステアリングシステムとContinentalの先進ブレーキ技術を組み合わせて、自動運転の運転支援システム（ADAS）用のソリューションにすることも明らかにした。

with the introduction of two steering technologies that enable advanced safety

and functions for Level 2-5 automated driving. Nexteer's high availability

Electric Power Steering (EPS) and its advanced Steer-by-Wire (SbW) system are

High Availability EPS Facilitates Migration to SbW

"As OEMs continue investment in high availability EPS, the migration to

SbW: Gateway to New Safety Advancements & Automated Steering

SbW opens new possibilities for advanced safety functions, such as collision

avoidance, stability control and more. Advanced safety features can be

implemented with the steering system alone or in combination with the braking

system to achieve even higher safety levels. To this point, Lubischer also

noted that Nexteer & Continental's JV, CNXMotion, will combine Nexteer's

advanced steering systems with Continental's advanced braking technologies into

solutions for Automated Driving ADAS.
