英王立造幣局が人懐っこいクマのパディントン（TM）の硬貨セットを発売

マイケル・ボンド氏によって1958年に最初に創作されたクマのパディントンは、何世代もの人々の想像力をとりこにしてきた。完全未使用で色付きのシルバープルーフ50ペンス硬貨は、ロンドンでのパディントンの冒険の中でも2つ最もアイコニックな場所であるパディントン駅とバッキンガム宮殿をモチーフにしている。

なじみがあるのが本であれ映画であれ、パディントンのファンは彼のアイコニックなスーツケース、その名の由来である鉄道の駅、および有名なバッキンガム宮殿を見ればそれと分かるだろう。ロンドンを初めて訪れる人々がそうであるように。

詳細なデザインはパディントンの有名なダッフルコートの鮮やかな青と帽子の生き生きとした赤を細部までとらえており、美しい収集可能なコインという形で2つの小さな芸術作品を生み出した。

王立造幣局のコインデザイナーであるデーブ・ナプトン氏は、マイケル・ボンド氏の非常に愛されたキャラクターに硬貨のコレクションとして永遠の命を与えるために選ばれた。同氏は「子供の頃、パディントンの本を読むのが大好きだったので、コインのデザインをしている時は本当に懐かしい気持ちだった。パディントンは私の子供時代の一部だったが、今ではまったく新しい世代によって発見されつつある。私は彼のポートレートに生命を与え、極めてリアリティのある環境にいる彼を表現したいと思い、パディントン駅の現代的な列車から着手し、スーツケースの上で彼の新たな人生が始まるのを辛抱強く待っているパディントンを表現した」と語った。

     The Royal Mint has revealed two new commemorative coins to celebrate the

60th anniversary of Paddington Bear's first adventure in A Bear Called

Paddington.

    This launch is just the start of a series of exciting adventures for

Britain's favourite bear with The Royal Mint. Paddington fans can follow his

    First created in 1958 by Michael Bond, Paddington Bear has captured the

imagination of generations. The brilliant uncirculated and coloured silver

Proof 50p coins feature Paddington in two of the most iconic locations from his

adventures in London - Paddington Station and Buckingham Palace.

    Whether they are familiar with the books or movies, Paddington fans will

recognise his iconic suitcase, his namesake train station and the famous

Buckingham Palace - as many first-time visitors to London will also have

experienced.

    The full designs capture the vivid blue and vibrant reds of Paddington's

famous duffle coat and hat in minute detail - creating two miniature works of

art that are beautiful, collectable coins.

    Dave Knapton, Coin Designer at The Royal Mint, was chosen to immortalise

Michael Bond's much-loved character for the coin collection and commented: "I

loved reading the books about Paddington when I was younger, and felt a real

sense of nostalgia as I was designing these coins. Paddington was part of my

childhood, but now he's being discovered by a whole new generation. I wanted to

bring his portrait to life and show him in a very realistic environment, so I

began with a modern train at Paddington Station, showing Paddington waiting

patiently on his suitcase for his new life to begin".
