先月28日、空間デジタル分野の先駆けスタートアップ企業である、YouVR （ユーブイアール）が、世界最大規模の通信事業者のひとつであるNTTの子会社、NTTコミュニケーションズ（以下、NTT Com）のプログラム「NTT Communications OPEN INNOVATION PROGRAM」に応募し、審査の結果、パートナー企業に選出された。今後、「設備運営の自動化で、次世代データセンターを創造」というテーマで、実証実験などを通じて両社での事業展開を検討していく。
NTT Comは、全世界に広がる総面積40万m2を越えるデータセンターをはじめ、190ヵ国および地域にICTソリューションを提供しており、今回のプログラムでは、「P2P通信でロボットを遠隔操縦」「データセンターの設備運営の自動化」「スポーツテック」「無線中継所の空間活用」などに関する計4つのテーマでパートナー企業を募集した。選考を通過した企業には、NTT Comの約190万社のパートナーや全世界190カ国・地域以上でのサービス提供、110都市に及ぶ営業網等を活用したマーケティング支援・実証フィールド提供など可能性が広がる。
3Dイメージの生成、およびVR処理技術を保有するYouVRは、データセンター運営管理に関連した空間デジタル技術を使用し、施設管理顧客に特化された価値を創出する。データセンターに訪問しなくても、簡単に効率的にセンターを管理できる3Dツアーと3次元立体図を提供するなど、さまざまなVRソリューションを適用する計画だ。
今後は、5月後半まで技術テストやマーケティングなどの過程を経た後、8月29日に開かれる「Demoday」にて準備してきた技術を披露する。
