大手国際通信イネーブラーであるBICS（https://bics.com/ ）は28日、日本でのバックボーンの大幅なアップグレードと拡張を発表した。リモートピアリング、クラウド接続、キャリアイーサーネットなどのローミングおよびIPベースサービスの需要増をサポートするため容量を10倍に増やす。この動きは、2020年に予想される日本国内および海外を旅行する国内外のモバイル契約者数の増加に先だって行われ、アジア太平洋地域と世界のその他の地域間で保証された大容量コネクティビティーへの高まる需要に対応する。

今回の拡張には、BICSのIPベースサービス向けのローカルインターネット中継点に接続する東京で2番目のポイントオブプレゼンス（PoP）の導入が含まれる。これにより、レイテンシーが削減され、エンドツーエンドの品質が向上すると同時に、ローカルの顧客がBICSのグローバルネットワーク・インフラストラクチャーに直接接続される。また、PoP導入は、地域内のコネクティビティーを最適化することにより、BICSの顧客のコストを最小限に抑える。

また、BICSは地域内の既存のネットワークインフラストラクチャーを、香港から日本、日本からロサンゼルスの新しいルートによって拡大した。その結果、コネクティビティーは10倍に増え、レイテンシーは大幅に削減された。

Network expansion increases capacity tenfold in preparation for the expected

surge in mobile roaming traffic

BICS[https://bics.com/ ], a leading international communications enabler, has today announced

a major upgrade and expansion of its backbone in Japan, increasing capacity tenfold to support

growing demand for roaming and IP-based services such as remote peering, cloud connect and

carrier ethernet. The move comes ahead of increasing numbers of domestic and international

mobile subscribers travelling in and out of Japan expected in 2020 and follows growing demand

for guaranteed high capacity connectivity between the APAC territory and the rest of the world.

The expansion includes the deployment of a second point-of-presence (PoP) in Tokyo,

which connects to the local internet exchange points for BICS' IP-based services.

This will ensure reduced latency, improving end-to-end quality while directly connecting

local customers to BICS' global network infrastructure. The PoP deployment also minimises

the cost for BICS' customers by optimising connectivity within the region.

BICS has also extended its existing network infrastructure in the region with

a new route from Hong Kong to Japan, and from Japan to LA, resulting in

a tenfold increase in connectivity and significantly reducing latency.
