ALUMINIUM CHINA Prepares for in-depth Discussion On the Future of China's Recycled Aluminium Industry
PR83663
SHANGHAI, April 15, 2020 /PRNewswire=KYODO JBN/ --
Preparations for ALUMINIUM CHINA 2020 are underway. World-leading aluminium
producers, such as Novelis, Nikkeikin, CHALCO, Nanshan, and ALNAN, will exhibit
with cutting-edge materials and experience in recycling sector. Meanwhile,
leading aluminium recyclers Lizhong, Sigma Group and technology suppliers
including OTTO JUNKER, Bobby Bartz, TOMRA are invited to share the technology
about aluminium recycling. Held by Reed Exhibitions, the event is scheduled at
Shanghai New International Expo Center from July 8 to 10, 2020.
Guests will gather on "Future Aluminium Plant - China Aluminium Recycling
Innovation and Development Conference" to discuss the opportunities and
challenges facing China's aluminium recycling and reusing.
Former grade regeneration in aluminium alloy becomes the future focus; primary
and secondary aluminium producers are closely collaborating to promote energy
efficiency.
China is the world's largest producer, consumer and exporter of aluminium, yet
scrap aluminium consumption by aluminium manufacturers remains low. Also, a
substantial portion of what was once quality wrought aluminium alloy is
degraded. Thus, ongoing build-out of quality closed-loop recycling system and
advocation for former grade regeneration are crucial.
Among the world's leading closed-loop recycling systems are the automotive
aluminium plate recycling system by Novelis, and Hydro's consumer waste
recycling projects. Bellwethers in China have also been advancing the recycling
business. For example, Weiqiao Pioneering and Sigma Group are partnering on a
300,000 tons/year recycled aluminium project. Another way would be upgrading
the aluminium scrap recycling systems, which is taken by Nanshan and Mingtai.
Domestic recycled aluminium supply may replace import as demand grows, leading
to the increasing need of recycling technology.
Statistics from Antaike show that the share of imported aluminium scrap in raw
material for secondary aluminium has decreased from 50% in 2010 to 18%, while
domestic scrap increased from 28% to 55%.
Apart from policy constraints, the COVID-19 epidemic may further reduce the
aluminium scrap import in 2020. Domestic supply may replace import to become
the primary source of aluminium scrap, leading to demand increase of recycling
technology.
"China's recycling aluminium industry is going through transformation. And how
we ensure the proper use of domestic aluminium scrap is a new challenge for the
whole industry." said Mr. Gu from Nanshan Group, an exhibitor at ALUMINIUM
CHINA 2020.
