On February 21, 2022, the results of the third annual selection of pictures

submitted by the public were announced in Liaocheng, Shandong. According to the

Information Office of the People's Government of Liaocheng, since its opening

in April 2021, Liaocheng's third annual picture selection event received more

than 4,000 pictures from the public, with themes covering the economy, society,

culture, scenery, and architecture. After a preliminary review and then an

expert review, from a total of 120 finalists, 10 pictures of the year and 20

additional outstanding pictures were selected.

Liaocheng, Shandong, a northern water town and an ancient capital along the

Grand Canal, is naturally closely associated with water, and it is believed

this gives spirit to the town. There are many rivers in the city of Liaocheng,

and 23 of them have a river basin of more than 30 square kilometers each. The

Yellow River flows more than 50 kilometers in the east; the Beijing-Hangzhou

Grand Canal flows through the center of the town; the Wei River flows towards

Hebei, Shandong, and Henan in the west; and the Majia River and the Tuhai River

crisscross the city. Dongchang Lake, the largest urban lake in northern China,

covers an area of 6.3 square kilometers. It surrounds a one-square kilometer

ancient town built during the Song Dynasty, creating spectacular scenery that

combines water with the town.
