A report from GLOBAL TIMES ONLINE:
Shangdong province's Jining has progressed further along the path of
integrating culture and tourism after being included in the second batch of
international wetland cities.
Jining has carried out significant projects to safeguard cultural artifacts. By
creating the Confucius Research Institute, Confucius Museum, and Nishan
Sacredland on the foundation of the already-existing Kong Family Mansion, the
Temple of Confucius, and the Cemetery of Confucius, Qufu, a county in Jinan,
has supported Confucian culture. Nearly 3 million people have visited Nishan
Sacredland from home and abroad since it opened in September 2018.
Furthermore, Jining has plowed into the seal making industry. While ensuring
the inheritance of the seal making technique by gathering experienced masters
in the industry to share their knowledge, Jining set up Kong Fu Seal Pavilion
to sell seal-related products and promote Confucian culture.
According to Liu Peng, the general-manager of the Kong Fu Seal Pavilion, the
pavilion continues to receive orders for seals and around 25 thousand are made
every day thanks to livestreaming.
Jining's glazed tile industry is also benefitting from heavy demand. Dazhuang
glazed tiles debuted in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and were used to expand
the Temple of Confucius. Currently, the tiles can be found in various ancient
buildings and are sold to countries including France and Germany.
