The Farnesina collection has been enriched by the scale model (1:100) of the Italy Pavilion for Expo Osaka 2025, presented today to Deputy Premier and Foreign and Cooperation Minister Antonio Tajani. During the meeting the model was placed in front of the Staircase of Honour, enriching the already precious collection of the foreign ministry.

The model is a faithful reproduction of the project of architect Mario Cucinella, who was inspired by the Renaissance Ideal City with a theatre, a true building within a building, which will host cultural events. The piazza too and the garden will be distinctive elements of Italian creativity, urban planning and identity. Italy goes to the upcoming Universal Exposition that will take place at Osaka from April 13 to October 13 2025 with the theme "Art regenerates life", an interpretation of the general theme "Planning future society for our lives".

"The Italy Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 will be an extraordinary instrument of the diplomacy of growth. We will team up to valorise our excellent products," said Minister Tajani.

"The project of the Italy Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 designed by the architect Mario Cucinella is characterised by a strong stylistic and structural identity. The Italian System goes to Expo Osaka 2025 in this extraordinary framework: the Italy Pavilion will be the first visiting card for the Italian firms that will present themselves in Japan," commented General Commissioner Mario Vattani at the end of the meeting.

According to a study by the Milan Politecnico University commissioned by the General Commissioner's Office, Italy's participation in Expo 2025 Osaka may lead to a 20% increase in the current volume of exports, for a value well over 600 million euros per annum. Trade between Italy and Japan is today worth around 13 billion euros. Over 30% of Italian exports to Japan is propelled by the main items of Made in Italy: agri-food, fashion, design, followed by technical and scientific sectors like pharmaceuticals and the automotive and mechanical engineering sectors.
