Aerospace, art, culture and many occasions promoting the most attractive aspects of the territory, a fertile environment for investors from Japan and beyond, were at the centre of events organized during the regional week dedicated to Puglia that has wrapped up at Expo 2025 Osaka.
“We tried to talk about ourselves, through the best of our excellence” during the week, explained Francesca Zampano, Manager of the Puglia Region’s section for the promotion of trade, craftsmanship and the internationalization of businesses.
Regional excellence embraces a variety of sectors, “from wine and food with the best IGP (protected geographical indication) products”, to “tastings studied to present the most significant products of our land”, she explained.
It includes the region’s “artistic and cultural tradition”, continued Zampano, with “the great figure and career of Pino Pascali” described through an immersive and multimedia experience.
And the installation ‘9 square metres of puddles’ brought to Expo “contemporary Arte Povera”, poor art, in a context in which the artist from Puglia dialogues with Leonardo da Vinci, Tintoretto and Caravaggio: “A great satisfaction for us”, stressed Zampano.
“A visual (story) emerged amid the marvels of the Italy Pavilion”, connecting Puglia’s experience, in a context of the universal exposition in which “we bring to the world the description of a new, unexpected Puglia, a territory that brings prestige and at the same time is honoured to be welcomed” in this space, stressed the Puglia region's Manager.
The regional week was full of participants, events, appointments and international workshops with companies in the aerospace sector that exhibited their products and prototypes in the area dedicated to regions.
And much was said in terms of “content of a story that is not only a story but represents the construction of international collaborations and partnerships”, recalled Zampano, mentioning the “international workshops comparing US and Japanese spaceports attended by Japanese astronaut Naoko Yamazaki from JAXA (the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) and George Nilde, the coordinator of Global Alliance".
Tech talks were also organized starring innovative startups like Puglia’s Rea Space which presented its new intravehicular spacesuit.
Puglia presented itself to investors with the Investor Meeting “in which over 40 among corporations, enterprises, financial operators and buyers had the possibility of getting to know the opportunities offered by our territory to those who wish to establish themselves in Puglia”, said Zampano.
“We ended on a high note with an international event on advanced mobility systems, unmanned aircraft, and with the workshop organized in cooperation with Eurocontrol on air mobility” but especially with the “great satisfaction of all partners of the initiative on sectorial focuses, in particular the Aerospace Technology District (DTA), with the very precious cooperation of our regional agencies Aret Puglia Sviluppo and the promotion and enthusiasm of all the regional structures and the departments involved in this ambitious project”, also stressed Zampano.
The Manager expressed pride for “arriving at Expo 2025 Osaka to describe and showcase the beauty and ability of a Puglia that is able to describe itself through the live voice of all those who have made it increasingly well known over the course of the past few years”.
