The truly global representation, with participants present from each

continent in attendance, allowed for frank discussions around developing new

safer, fuel-efficient and cost-effective aircraft operations to take place

whilst innovative solutions on tackling global issues were shared.

At the ATC Global 2013 conference, speakers painted very different views of

the achievements and challenges facing air navigation services providers around

the world. Some of the highlights included Mukesh Chand Dangi, General Manager

(ATM) Airports Authority of India, who gave details of the Indian Ocean

Strategic Partnership to Reduce Emissions (INSPIRE) programme where direct

city-pair flights have operated with an average fuel saving per flight (per

sector) of 212 kg for the last year or so. Juan Ayon Alfonso, air navigation

sub-director at IACC (Instituto de Aeronautica Civil de Cuba), the Cuban ANSP,

spoke of plans to acquire new systems to satisfy the implementation of CAR/SAM

ANP and Mauricio Boekhoudt, Strategic Advisor for Aruba Airport Authority,

spoke of the work to introduce ASBU Block 0 in the region - implementation of

PBN and air traffic services inter-facility data communication (AIDC).

The supplier community was also out in force with more than 150 exhibitors

from 28 countries represented including Thales, NITA, WIDE, Northrop Grumman,

Intelcan, Azimut, Leosphere, Vaisala, Moog Fernau, Barco, Guntermann & Drunck,

Era A.S, Comsoft, Korea Airports Corp., Tern Systems, Rohde & Schwarz, Nanjing

LES Information Technology, Nanjing NRIET, VNIIRA and many others.

One of the largest delegations to attend ATC Global this year was from

China, with over 70 senior ATM professionals from the CAAC ATMB, the Hong Kong

CAD and all regional Chinese ATM Bureaus present. Mr. Zhao Fan, Director at the

Technical Center CAAC ATMB, commented after his second ATC Global visit, "It

has been extremely important for us to attend ATC Global to engage with other

ATM professionals from across the world, meet with technology suppliers and

participate in key discussions on the future of the industry and the part China

will play over the next few years."

In addition, for the 3rd year ATC Global ran its Hosted Buyer Programme

that proactively sources international buyers who are actively procuring ATM

technologies and solutions. Participants this year hailed from ANSPs and Civil

Aviation Authorities from more than 17 countries including Myanmar, Colombia,

COCESNA, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Vietnam, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Algeria,

Morocco, Zimbabwe, Nepal, Cuba, Bolivia, Egypt, Rwanda alongside a host of

European countries.

"I really appreciate the opportunity I was given to participate in the ATC

Global 2013, this was a unique chance for us to get closer to the manufacturers

and obtain information that is vital for the development of our countries. The

organization of the whole event was impeccable and I would like to congratulate

the team on a job well done," Oscar Gutierrez Urresti from SABSA, who this year

took part in the ATC Global Hosted Buyer Programme, commented.

For 23 years ATC Global has been the premium meeting place for the entire

ATM community, bringing together the full supply chain and helping to form new

business partnerships between buyers and sellers. ATC Global 2013 once again

confirmed the annual event as the global place to do business.

"The hosted buyer programme has excelled as always. UBM has gone out of its

way to make sure Adacel could meet with the Chinese delegation which was very

successful. So far Adacel's business development team has been very pleased

with the outcome, this has probably been one of the busiest first days of the

show we have had in years," enthused James Adams from Adacel.

Tony Bown from Ultra Electronics Network Analytics, highlighted the

high-quality of visitors in attendance at ATC Global this year, "Visitors to

our stand have been of high quality with some good leads generated. This is our

primary exhibition for the ATC Market and so it is extremely important for us,

this year has been very successful."
