◎ディーリンク社の最新クラウド・ルーターに搭載　　メディアテックのSoC

【新竹（台湾）３日PRN＝共同JBN】無線通信とデジタル・マルチメディア・ソリューションの大手ファブレス半導体企業であるメディアテック社（MediaTek Inc.）は３日、Wi-Fiシステム・オン・チップ（SoC）のRT6856がディーリンク社（D-Link）の最新Wi-Fiクラウド・ルーターに組み込まれたと発表した。ディーリンク社はコネクティビティの世界大手として、今春何種類かの新型クラウド・ルーターを出荷する予定である。

メディアテックのRT6856 Wi-Fi SoCは、強力な700MHz MIPS（登録商標）34KEC（商標）CPUコアとデュアルPCIエクスプレス・インターフェースを含んでおり、高品質のデータ、音声・ビデオアプリケーションを提供する「デュアルバンド並列」家庭内ネットワークを構築できるよう同時に２つのWi-Fiストリームを可能にしている。この強力なSoCによって、消費者は全帯域幅速度で走る２つの無線ネットワークが構築でき、ネットワーク全体の性能を大幅に増強することが可能になる。メディアテックRT6856にはまた、3G/4Gブロードバンド接続、無線プリンター共有もしくは無線ストレージ・アプリケーション用として２個のUSB2.0インターフェース、オーディオ・ストリーミングとVoIPアプリケーション用SPI、I2C、I2S、PCMインターフェースが備わっている。さらにこのチップには、ソフトウエアによる通常の製品より５倍も速いLANからWANへのルーティング性能を持つNAT（ネットワーク・アドレス変換）サポート用として実地証明済みのハードウエアが含まれている。

MediaTek and D-Link Partner to Deliver High Performance Wi-Fi Cloud Routers

Presenting innovative cloud-enabled Wi-Fi routers to consumers this spring  

MediaTek Inc., a leading fabless semiconductor company for wireless

communications and digital multimedia solutions, today announced that its Wi-Fi

system-on-a-chip (SoC), the RT6856, has been incorporated into D-Link's latest

Wi-Fi cloud routers. As a global leader in connectivity, D-Link will be

shipping several new cloud routers this spring.

The MediaTek RT6856 Wi-Fi SoC contains a powerful 700 MHz MIPS(R) 34KEc(TM) CPU

core and dual PCI Express interfaces to simultaneously enable  two Wi-Fi  

streams for "dual band concurrent" home networks providing high quality data,

voice and video applications. This powerful SoC allows consumers to create two

wireless networks both running at full bandwidth speeds, thus offering a

significant increase in total network capacity. The MediaTek RT6856 also

features two USB 2.0 interfaces for 3G/4G broadband connectivity, wireless

printer sharing, or wireless storage applications; and SPI, I2C, I2S, and PCM

interfaces for audio streaming and VoIP applications. Plus, this chip also

includes the company's field proven hardware support for Network Address

Translation (NAT) that make its LAN to WAN routing performance five times

faster than conventional software-based products.
