【プレザントン（米カリフォルニア州）2012年6月19日PRN=共同JBN】TriReme Medical, Inc.は経皮的血管形成術（PTA）バルーンカテーテルのChocolate（商標）のサイズ・マトリックスを拡大した機器について、米食品医薬品局（FDA）の認可を取得したと発表した。Chocolateはこれまで、バルーンの直径2.0-4.0ミリ、長さ最高120ミリの抹消血管系病変部の経皮的血管治療に認可されている。

米ペンシルベニア州キャンプヒルのホーリースピリット心血管研究所（Holy Spirit Cardiovascular Institute）の所長・医務部長のラジェシュ・デーブ博士は「Chocolateは膝関節下の病変で私が行う日常治療行為に欠かせない一部となっている。今回の新たなサイズの認可によって、私はChocolate の利用頻度を拡大し、通常はステントを選択しない膝窩動脈の疾患に罹った患者の治療を開始することができる」と語った。

Chocolateの新しいデザインは、小モジュール（Pillows）の形成に資するセミ・コンプライアントによる（拡張・収縮を行う）バルーンに対する強制（拘束）構造を取り入れている。この新しい作用メカニズムを通じて、Chocolateはせん断応力を最小限に抑え、均一の膨張と迅速な収縮が可能となる。Chocolate のpillowsはプラーク・モディフィケーションに供するため局所での拡大が可能であり、血管壁に起きる緊張や痛みを和らげるよう設計されている。

TriReme Medical Receives FDA Clearance for Expanded Matrix of Sizes of Chocolate PTA Balloon Catheter

TriReme Medical, Inc. (TMI) announced today that it has received FDA clearance

for an expanded matrix of sizes for its Chocolate(TM) PTA balloon catheter.

Chocolate(TM) is now approved for the percutaneous transluminal treatment of

lesions in the peripheral vasculature in balloon diameters from 2.0 - 4.0mm and

in balloon lengths up to 120mm.

"This latest regulatory approval broadening the available size matrix of the
