【ウッドサイド（米カリフォルニア州）2012年8月30日】プライベート・エクイティー投資、助言専門会社のFox Paine and Company, LLC（www.foxpaine.com）は2012年7月30日、同社が10億ドルの現金合併取引でParadigm, Ltd.のApax Partners、JMI Equityへの売却を完了したと発表した。Paradigmは天然ガス、石油など地表下資源の探査、発見、採取を最適化する地学ソフトウエア・ソリューションの有力な世界的プロバイダーである。

この取引についてFox Paineのソール・フォックスCEOは「10年の提携期間にわたるParadigmの並外れた成長は、地学とコンピューター利用研究、開発に対する同社の不断のコミット、新たなソリューションをつくり出し、既存の探査、生産ソリューションを継続的に改善する同社の素晴らしい研究、開発プログラムから得た結果を迅速に活用することに加え、同社の顧客の利益、より一般的にはエネルギー業界の利益に奉仕し、前進させることへの衰えることのないコミットの成果である」とコメントしている。

2002年8月に当時株式が公開取引されていたParadigm（ナスダック：ODGM）を買収したFox Paine Fund IIは、Paradigmへの8300万ドルの投資で7.8倍の利益（ROI）を上げた。投資家が提供を約束した10億ドルの資金で2000年に設立されたFox Paine Fund IIはこれまでに6件のプラットフォーム企業買収、企業成長イニシアチブ、「フォローオン」買収を含め、投下資本総額に対する年率40%の複利計算年間利益（すべての手数料、経費差し引き後）を達成した。

Fox Paine Announces Sale of Paradigm

Fox Paine and Company, LLC (www.foxpaine.com), a private equity investment and

advisory boutique, announced that on July 30, 2012, it completed the sale of

Paradigm, Ltd. to Apax Partners and JMI Equity in a $1 billion cash merger

transaction. Paradigm is the leading global provider of geoscience software

solutions that optimize the exploration, discovery, and extraction of natural

gas, oil, and other subsurface resources.

In commenting on the transaction, Saul Fox, Fox Paine's CEO, remarked that

"Paradigm's extraordinary growth over the course of our 10 year association is

a result of the company's unremitting commitment to geoscience and

computational research and development, rapidly deploying the results of its

prodigious research and development programs to create novel and continuously

improve existing exploration and production solutions, and an unflagging

well as the energy industry more generally."

Fox Paine Fund II, which acquired then publicly traded Paradigm (NASDAQ: PDGM)

in August 2002, realized a 7.8x return (ROI) on the fund's $83 million

investment in the company. Overall to date, Fox Paine Fund II, which was

established in 2000 with $1.0 billion in capital commitments from investors,

has achieved a 40% per year compounded annual return (net of all fees and

expenses) on all invested capital, including six platform corporate

acquisitions, company growth initiatives, and "follow-on" acquisitions.
