【ニューヨーク2013年1月19日PRN=共同JBN】ファッション・デザイナーのオスカー・デラレンタ氏（Oscar de la Renta）は19日、英国のファッション・デザイナー、ジョン・ガリアーノ氏（John Galliano）をニューヨークのデザインンスタジオに招き、3週間の予定でともに仕事をすることになったと発表した。

　デラレンタ氏はこの招請について、「彼と私は長年にわたってお互いによく知る仲であり、私は彼の才能を高く評価している。彼は懸命に回復に努めてきた。彼がファッションの世界でよみがえり、創造性を発揮してきた環境にあらためて適応する機会を提供できるのを非常に喜ばしく思う」と語った。

ガリアーノ氏は「私はアルコール依存症で、過去2年間はその回復に努めてきた。禁酒するまでの数年間は、依存症の狂気への道をころがり落ちて行った。私はほかの人々、特にユダヤ人社会の人々を傷つける発言をし、傷つけるようなこともした。私は自分が与えた痛みについて私的な場でも、また公の場でも遺憾であったことを表明してきたし、今でも表明し続けている。私が傷つけた人々には今後もしょく罪を続けることを約する。このたびオスカー・デラレンタ氏が、家族的雰囲気のある彼のデザイン・スタジオに私を招き、共に仕事をさせてくれるのは非常にうれしく思う。私に対する彼のサポートと信頼に恐縮している」とコメントした。

John Galliano to Spend Time with Oscar de la Renta in Design Studio

Oscar de la Renta today announced that he has invited John Galliano to spend

some time with him in his design studio over the next three weeks.

"John and I have known each other for many years and I'm a great admirer of his

talent. He has worked long and hard on his recovery and I'm happy to give him

the opportunity to reimmerse himself in the world of fashion and reacclimate in

an environment where he has been so creative," stated Mr. de la Renta.

"I am an alcoholic. I have been in recovery for the past two years. Several

years prior to my sobriety, I descended into the madness of the disease. I said

and did things which hurt others, especially members of the Jewish community. I

have expressed my sorrow privately and publicly for the pain which I have

caused and I continue to do so. I remain committed to making amends to those I

have hurt. I am grateful to Oscar beyond words for inviting me to spend time

with him in the familiar surroundings of a design studio. His support and faith

in me is humbling," commented Mr. Galliano.
