Chiba Gov. Kensaku Morita will visit Taiwan from Friday, Oct. 24, to Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014.

During his stay in Taiwan, he will visit not only Taipei but also Taichung and Kaohsiung from which there are direct flights to Narita International Airport to promote tourism and other aspects of Chiba Prefecture.

Main events planned during the governor's visit

Friday, Oct. 24:

- Courtesy call on the Taipei office of the Interchange Association, Japan.

Sunday, Oct. 26

- A promotional event for "sake" (Japanese rice wine) made in Chiba Prefecture

Monday, Oct. 27

- Visit to the Office of the President

The governor will visit the Office of the President to exchange views with the president and other high-ranking officials on the promotion of mutual exchanges between Chiba Prefecture and Taiwan and ask for cooperation in increasing and newly launching direct flights from Taiwan to Narita International Airport, among other issues.

- Business session and Business seminar

-- Chiba Prefecture's mission will individually hold business talks with local travel agencies and other firms.

-- A seminar will be organized for Taiwanese companies on the attractions of the Japanese market and Chiba Prefecture's business climate among other things.

*The governor will give a presentation to promote the attractions of Chiba Prefecture.

- Reception, "Chiba Night"

A reception, "Chiba Night," will be held to introduce the attractions of Chiba Prefecture to local government officials, the news media, travel agencies and buyers as well as to strengthen relations between the Chiba Prefecture mission and local governments and businesses.

Tuesday, Oct. 28

- Meeting with Xue Guang-feng, president of the Taiwan International Association of Education Tours

Wednesday, Oct. 29

- Meeting with Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Ju

The governor will exchange views with Mayor Chen on the promotion of mutual exchanges between Chiba Prefecture and Kaohsiung from which there are direct flights to Narita International Airport.

- Business sessions between local travel agencies and Chiba Prefecture's tourism mission
