【トロント2018年9月6日PR Newswire＝共同通信JBN】カナダ最大手の垂直統合型太陽エネルギー企業であるGrasshopper Solarは、日本の福岡県に瀬戸内興建が建設する飯塚太陽光発電所に8000万米ドルを投資すると発表した。この21.6MWの地上設置プロジェクトは、6万5455枚のソーラーパネルを使い2万6136MWhのクリーンエネルギーを生み出し、年間1万9451トンの炭素排出量を相殺する。
飯塚発電所は、瀬戸内興建と日本のパートナー企業による開発事業で、2014年第4四半期の建設開始、2020年第3四半期までの商業運転を予定している。この事業は完成後、同国の固定価格買い取り制度に参加し、METI（経済産業省）から20年間にわたりキロワット時当たり36円での買い取り契約が適用される予定。

日本の太陽光発電ブームは、長年にわたり劇的に加速している。日本は2017年に7GWを設置して計50GWとし、2018年末までにさらに7GWを設置する予定である。日本の発電に占める太陽エネルギーのシェアは現在7％と推定されており、2030年までに12％に拡大すると見込まれている。

Grasshopper Announces USD $80 Million Investment in Japan Iizuka Solar Power Project

Grasshopper Solar, Canada's largest vertically integrated solar energy company
announces a USD $80 million investment in Setouchi Koken's Iizuka Solar Plant
located in Fukuoka, Japan. This 21.6MW ground mount project will utilize 65,455
solar panels, generate 26,136 MWh of clean energy and offset 19,451 tons of
carbon emissions per annum.
The Iizuka Power Plant will be developed by Setouchi and its Japanese partners
with construction commencing in Q4 2018 and expected to achieve commercial
operation by Q3 of 2020. This project once completed will participate in the
country's Feed-in Tariff program with a 20-year JPY 36/kWh contract awarded by
METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry).

The solar power boom in Japan has accelerated dramatically over the years.
Japan installed 7GW in 2017 for a total 50GW and is on track to install another
7GW by the end of 2018. Solar energy's share of electricity production in Japan
is now estimated at 7% and projected to grow to 12% by 2030.
