AQUA Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, President & CEO: Du Jingguo), a unit of China’s consumer electronics and appliances manufacturer Haier Group which holds a major share of the global white goods market, opened “AQUA Laundry Shop” at Haier Cloud Park in the Laoshan district of Qingdao City, Shandong Province, China, on September 19 (Thursday), 2019.

According to its own survey, AQUA holds the leading share of the Japanese coin-operated laundry market in unit volume. AQUA Laundry Shop in the Yungu area of Qingdao City will set out to promote the “coin laundry culture” in China, where coin-operated laundry facilities have not been widely used yet, by conducting market research, providing user experiences and sharing business models.

Because there are many dual-income households in major Chinese cities such as Shanghai and Qingdao, AQUA believes that there are “needs for shorter working hours” among the people in China who want to get housework done quickly without spending much time. The company, therefore, will aim to expand the Japanese-style coin laundry market in China by welcoming people to visit the antenna shop and experience it.

Overview of AQUA Landry Shop:

There are 10 units of Japanese-made AQUA coin-operated laundry equipment in the shop. The machines, with eggshell white or light gray as their base color, represent a tranquil atmosphere and traditional Japanese touch. The two-story shop (total floor space: 289 square meters) consists of a coin-operated machine area on the 1st floor and a laundry service area on the 2nd floor.
