Toyota Extensively Supports Tokyo International Film Festival 2012 as Special Partner!

Toyota Marketing Japan (TMJ) and Toyota Motor Sales & Marketing (TMSM), seeking harmony among people, society and the global environment, and development of a sustainable society through manufacturing, together support the 25th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), to be held from October 20 to 28, as the Special Partner sympathizing with the TIFF's concept of considering the natural environment of Earth and maintaining a sustainable society.

Main activities:

Since 2008, Toyota has been supporting the category "natural TIFF" to screen films based on the concept of symbiosis with nature. Toyota will also present the "Toyota Earth Grand Prix" awarding one of the films that best expresses Earth's beauty.

Providing vehicles: Toyota Prius PHV is the TIFF official car and will be featured at the Green Carpet Ceremony on October 20.

A special event "25th TIFF X J-WAVE SPECIAL CINEMA TALK & LIVE" will be held on October 21. "PES (Peace Eco Smile)" (http://www.toytoyota.com/pes/en/), an original animation series produced by TOYOTA X STUDIO4C, and a short film from "the 6th Toyota dream car art contest" (http://www.Toyota-global.com/events/dream_car_art_contest/ ) will be screened, followed by appearance of the creators and artists on the stage.

Human evolution is represented by mobility that brings new discovery and impression. Meanwhile, Toyota defines a vision for development of a sustainable society as a huge dream, which is to realize an environmentally-friendly society while satisfying basic human needs. When it all comes true, mobility will have a social and cultural meaning, not only a way of transportation. Such a dream is an energy source for manufacturing.

It is 15 years since the first Prius, the first ever mass-produced hybrid vehicle, was brought to the world. Hybrid technology is the core for eco-friendly car development. Toyota aims for symbiosis between human and nature by minimizing energy consumption and producing joy of mobility.

From a cultural point of view, expressing these corporate images by means of the arts like film is essential for the realization of a sustainable society. We hope TIFF to provide a platform for people and culture all around the world, while awareness of eco-friendly society grows beyond generations and boundaries through the power of films.
